The stuff that was being used the year I was born were called torpedo boats i.e. PT-109.

Re: A Skater in my price range!

Now I'm all about history and legends and knowing what's behind a name or style as part of a heritage in boating but........in comparison, I feel that the boat in these pictures is just plain ugly. I just cant imagine a wicked TAOD paint job and a maxed out weed-whacker hanging off the back. As much as I love the Skater name and their quality/craftsmanship...I just don't like the style.

However...being that price is always a factor in a purchase decision....and if the Skater name is the most important...then of course without a doubt I can understand the nature of wanting to purchase this type of boat.

That being said.....different strokes for different folks! :drink: :drink: :D :D

you mean a 70k paint job wouldn't make you want that thing? :D

Re: A Skater in my price range!

Good point...if I've got the $$ to put a TAOD paint job on it, I must REALLY like the boat to start with :D

I have always heard those 18's were pretty dangerous. Never seen one run though.

I too have heard of blow over issues. Dave, don't forget when this boat was being built, it would have been pretty edgy. Besides, it created the capital to go onto better things!

One of T2x's posts reveal the origin of that design.

Cord,

Yeah...I see what you are saying....had to start somewhere right? And I'm sure it was quite a change from the norm when it was introduced.
