Default Value of a 2001 Ford F350??? good or bad???

Since this is could be a potential boat hauler for someone, I think it is boating related...... To make a long story short, my neighbor approached me about helping him out of a financial crunch. He has a 2001 Ford F350, 4x4, Crew Cab, Lariat, Powerstroke, Dually that he needs to sell very quickly. The truck is in great shape with new tires, but has 99,500 miles on it. He wants $24,500.00 for it, which I think is high. He wants me to make an offer on it today? What is it worth? I don't mind helping him out by buying the truck, but I really have no use for it and would probably turn around and sell it. What is a fair price to offer him and still be able to sell it? According to the KBB, Private Party Value is $22,785.00 and Trade-In is $19,250.00. NADA has Trade-In listed as $23,475.00, LV is $21,750.00, AVG Retail is $26,450.00

I know these are just guides, but what kind of real money would the dealers put into it if they were trading for it and what would you ask for it if you were selling it as a private individual?

Thanks in advance,
Chad

Just sold the same truck but an 02 with 90,000. Ford said they would give 24,000 as a trade-in but thier value on the truck would be 27,500, as in what i sold it for to a private party, or what they would have asked for the truck. Remember it is a diesel and there is still 10,000 miles left on the motor warranty. Also the diesel does add a lot of value over a gas motor...

Just a thought. How are you going to feel if something big breaks in the next few months? I have always been apprehensive of selling something to someone I know. He may not know of any problems, but you are next door. Too easy to "blame" someone...if bought from a stranger at least the "azzhole" is nowhere to be found.

i'm in the business and just looked at National Auction Reports. If a dealer wanted to go to an auction and buy that truck (which he wouldnt due to the mileage) he would have to pay between $19-$20k...i'd look to spend $22k tops if i were planning on keeping it. If i were buying to re-sell than 19-20 k is the mileage. tuff sell with that kind of mileage. i know here in Jersey only a handful of banks will finance a vehicle with that kinda mileage. hope i helped ya out...
