is it me or did the dumb ass who put the scoops on put them on backwards....

not that it really matter, the boat just looks like crap with them like that

not only do they look rediculous on that boat because they stick up so high but two it would be impossible for anyone to lay on that sunpad. that top gun that just sold at lipship, the grey one, had scoops facing the right way put in the right way and they still left room for a girl on the back.

That's not your average power plant in that boat.

Not to beat on ya, but do you think it is wise to make the wise remarks that you did about a boat and the owner of one, that you found listed in the very same message board as you posted your 'question' in? If you don't like it, buy it and turn them around to your liking. Somehow I doubt being able to lay on the pad was high on the priority list. ;)

i duno but mayb he put them on for the clearance for the engines, but didnt want the added drag of the air scoops so used the side wiht less drag so he didnt have to buy a race hatch and still had a little use of the sundeck..... just my $.02

didnt mean to offend anyone here.... just trying to make the point that it didnt make any sense for him to do that. plus even if u had to do that, atleast the owner could have mounted lower so they dont stick up so high.

what ever, i wasnt trying to make a ruckus... just showing everyone how funny i thought that boat looks.

personally i think he should add flamethrowers inside the scoops so when hes goin 110 he can hit a bunch and capow it will take off like a rocket pack.

Actually they are not on backwards. They are on that way for two reasons , first they keep water out of the bilge and carberators , second
they draw air into the bilge much like a cowl induction hood on a car would . For example the chevelle and camaro both had hoods that you guys would have considered backwards because the air inlet was at the base of the windsheild as opposed to facing forward . Hope that helps.

the cowl inductin idea works best when it is drawing air from a high pressure area like the base of a windshield, not much high pressure at the stern of a boat..... but i agree, they are not backwards, just not the way most are installed...

No offense taken by me. Just figured it might be best to point out that possibly someone here is the owner of that boat. Anywayz, I think I recall where it also cuts down on the blower whine noise by having the openings to the rear. Whatever the reason, there was one. That's some serious sparkplug holders under the hatch. :)

doesn't the yellow 42 w/ 1350's with fountaindealer.com on it have them backwards too? somebody better call reggie and tell him he doesn't know what he is doing.... oh yeah, and didn't the kilo boat that went 177 have them backwards too?

Belive it or not, a friend of mine turned his around on his 25 Talon, the resaon was that the blower whine at cruise was to loud and turned around the motor could still pull in enough air and it was much quieter.

The newer fountains have the huge inlets on the side of the boat. I would imagine that taking air in the side running it through the bilge and out the back of the scoop moves a lot of air through the engine compartment.

Also i have seen a few boats that build a sort of vacum at the stern of the boat at speed.

As silly as it looks, Rick G is correct.
And besides, even if they were turned forward I doubt they's pick up any ram effect. The windshield would throw most of the airflow over the scoops anyway. And the low pressure area at the stern is not enough to hurt performance. If it was going 150+ then it may make a difference.
Even the cowl induction on the '69 Z28's really didn't work untill 120+. Sure it pulled in cool air at all speeds but to generate the ram effect took a much greater speed.

Ever see the air intake on an unlimited hydro? At the rear of the intake is another opening. That's there so any spray that does enter the front will hopefully keep going out the back and not into the engine.

250,000 for motors and drives, apparently for that price you still have to buy headers and pipes for another $16,021??? For 250k I would expect my motors have exhaust on them. Can headers and tailpipes actually cost 16 grand?
How about $20,027 for a rear stand up bolster? Could it actually cost 20k more than a regualr back seat? Does it give you a massage when you get on plane? For 20k it should do more than just massage my back!!!!
How about $2445 for a mirrored hatch? Thats some expensive plexiglass. $5340 for an intercom system. 8k to spray it yellow instead of white? That probably cost Reggie the exact same amount of money to use yellow gel coat instead of white, what a joke..... For 8k you get your name painted on the back in block letters..........
I know its a nice boat but 649k? Minght as well buy a new Cigarette or Outerlimits..............
