Default Ever had one of those days?

Went to finish off getting the boat ready for the season by setting the timing. 5 minute job, right?
No.
While loosening the distributor hold down bolt, I commented to my dad that it was not turning very easy. He says " Don't snap the head off that bolt" so of course the next thing I hear is "snap" and I'm looking at the head of a bolt.
Had plenty of bolt still sticking out so I pull the distributor and grind a slot in the bolt to try to unscrew it. No luck. So I grind it down flat and drill it out, put the easy out in and start turning. Of course the easy out snaps. Try to drill that out and discover that it must be hardened steel because the drill bit wanders off to the side and won't drill through it.
Off comes the intake. $50 later, my local machine shop has a new hole drilled and tapped and a slotted distributor hold down made (old bolt would not come out).

5 days later........I have my timing set.

That would be a project that came in on time for me.

Today, we were installing the sundeck. Deb said yesterday she thought it would take us about 20 minutes. I hope we can finish it tomorrow.

I learned a long time ago on the cuss machines known as cars, spend a few bucks up front and get the ARP studs.they have a rounded top, nut goes on easy, and wont budge. Sorry to see it start out that way...

Trailer lights and wiring today......simple....RIGHT!
Evil little nuts and bolts just don't come off like they should after 15 years of water and weather.

My "little" project started out by holding up my new Racorp fuel/water seperators and realizng they were too long to screw up into the stock location. Off to machine shop to have four SS couplings made up to move it straight out so it would clear the fuel pump. Saw water leaking out the manifold/riser gasket. Decide to replace entire exhaust system before I blow the motors up. Then since I'm doing that decide to yank off the "silent thunder box" that I've never liked. Then had to (which I still have not completely finished) patch and refinish the transom. Painted the outdrives and the lowers silver. Since that wasn't enough to do, rewired entire trailer and added all new, and extra, LED lights. When installing new EMI Thunder exhaust discover I need spacers between the manifolds and the risers for the existing transom holes to line up, so off to machine shop again. $700.00 later I have four aluminum billet spacers. Discover batteries are stone dead, so two new batteries.

And that's just the major stuff I remember.

379 days later, boat back in water....

But it was worth it....
