Getting back to the original question; NA vs. SC.
775 HP normally aspirated takes really good heads, a serious valvetrain and a top notch short block.
775 HP supercharged can be done with production 502, stock heads and cam and good head gaskets. You need to upgrade fuel system, ignition system, engine cooling, oil cooling and charge cooling to be reliable.
Torque curves will be similar in the 3000 - 6000 RPM range.
You can probably freshen a tired 502 for $5000 and spend another $10,000 doing the blower and associated systems right. Or you could sell a tired 502 for $2500 and build a 598. What's a good 598 cost these days?

I am sold on the Ilmor package. 625 hp all aluminum and has a 1 year warranty. Is about 250 to 300 pounds lighter than the merc's for less dollars than the 600's. Everybody has different opinions and there are definitely a lot of different packages out there. Choose wisely. I know for a fact that the Ilmor package has a better fuel advantage than the merc package.
