And then they make the 90 degree turn going to party cove, with 6-8 feet waves and wonder why they are in trouble.

I was working on my friends dock at Porta Cima adding a TIKI bar (cove 14). Some kids came up in a 17 foot boat asking how to get to party cove. You could tell they already shouldn't be going there. Our advice was to stay away from there in a 17 foot boat - they had about 9-10 miles of nasty water to get there. The only part they could probably handle was the no wake.

My guess is they went anyway.

Four 4 year olds, one 2 year old and the 9 month old??? And a few "adults"? WTF, was no one on that boat capable of keeping their head out of the azz long enough to make sure at least the kids were safe???

And the 2 year old has serious injuries.

Unnerstall needs to be whipped 'till $hit splatters.......

or better yet, they stop there waiting for their friends.... seen too many rental boats (and non rentals for that matter) stop between the no wake zone and party cove and i just shake my head and hope they don't get swamped....

That is where several boat have sunk with waves coming over the transom, including small cruisers. I agree with you, I always wonder why anyone would come off power in that area.

One time I saw a jon boat trying to leave party cove on a mid summer Saturday. Not as bad as last weekend but still not good. The 2 guys in it were at least smart enough to have life vests on and they were hugging the shoreline.

I agree, its not about looking cool or not. Its about being alive. I have a 2000, 29' Fountain and it can handle its own fairly well, in consideration. My rule is.. weekend in the main channel or around the bend to party cove life jackets on NO EXCEPTIONS. BTW I saw some stuff in the cove and am still wondering how they got out there. When the lake gods have swamped swamped 30' plus boats in the past you better respect it.

Talking about too many people in a boat, This weekend in our party cove I witnessed a 21' jet boat carrying 14 people!!! Couldn't believe they even made it that far out on the lake. Three people sitting on the bow, three on the transoms edge, four on the rear seat, two standing in front of them, and two in the front seats. Weres the police when they were heading out, that was an accident waiting to happen. Hope they made it back OK, we had 2-3 foot swells that would swamp that boat in a heart beat!!!!
