cross post -- need help fast please
hey guys
need help pretty quickly -- got a motor guy putting my boat back together -- he is not a marine person motor is in ready to fire -- ive got a merc II tranny and trs drive -- on the tranny there are two water lines (cooler)-- i'm assuming one goes to the rear port of the exhaust as an exit -- but where does the inlet line go to? can i just tee off of the outlet of the raw water pump -- prior to it going into the block? this is a new motor and i don't have any of the old stuff for reference. thanks for a quick reply -- i need to call him so i can have my boat back!!! mark |

Here is a diagram of a closed colling system--shows cooler location for you.
Cooler(s) are between water pickup and raw water pump. Trans is connected to one of coolers (power steering is other one) and dumps thru the block/manifolds. I've got a pair of dual collers that are brand new -- make a great deal on them. |
Re: cross post -- need help fast please
The stock set up had a fitting in the drain plug on the brass bodied sea pump. That cooler does not need much water, it is only a 3/8 hose. So yes, T off the outlet of the sea pump, the origiial fitting was 1/8 npt (about a 1/4" ID).
