The axe drops again! Part II
Well, today the mrs got the axe due to "incompatability issues". What ever. The thing that really sucks is that she won't qualify for unemployment because she still has a second part time job. It's only 16 hours a week at $9 an hour, but it's enough to kill the unemploy. We both are working two jobs to try to make up for the short from when I was unemployed 6 months ago. Just when things start looking up they come and kick you in the noids. To tie this back into a boating related topic, anybody interested in a cat? Nobody else seems to be and now I'm really motivated. Make me an offer. Dare to see how cheap you can get it for. If somebody doesn't step up to the plate here, it's going on ebay. :(

Re: The axe drops again! Part II
You should be able to get unemployment. Many years ago, my wife's hours were cut from her Gas Co job and she was able to get unemployment for her underemployment. She says she told them how many hours each week and unemployment adjusted for that.
I'm sure there is a limitation for how much she is making now as well as how many hours she works at her second job. Of course that was for one job. Maybe the fact that it is a second job is the issue. I'd say if you need the money, file and see what happens. Can't hurt. |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Cord, that's to bad. I hope things turn around soon.
Maybe it's time to get that boat bussiness that you were talking about kicked into gear. From some of your posts on hear lately, you certainly seem to have as good or better base of boat knowledge than some others that have tried. It just takes the right product and a leap of faith. Good luck |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Tim I am real sorry about that. How could ANYONE have a compatiability issue with her??? Let me know if there is anything that I can do.

Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Well, apparently one person in the company did. Guess that's all it takes. I find it more frustrating that this board has grown to the point that there are only 3 board members that even care to post on this topic. Boy, things have changed over the years.... :(

Tim;
Best of luck to you and the Mrs. Just remember when one door closes another one opens. Often times for the better. Keep positive and keep your chins up. |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Cord,
Don't know you guys, but wish you the best of luck in turning your current situation around. |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II
You will make it through the bad times you are currently in, we always make it through as men. Protect your credit through the ordeal and dont be like some that throw their hands in the air and let it all go. If you do get behind with creditors give them calls weekly and if nothing else send em 5 bucks a month. My Dads company ( He was VP at the time ) was embezelled by the President and he fled the country leaving my old man holding the bag. More then 3 MIL deep and my old man followed through and resolved all of it, he said that staying in constant contact with the creditors was the most important thing. All people want to know is that you aren't sticking them and they need that constant re assurance. give em that and most folks will back you up.
Very sorry about you having to dump your ride, maybe when you bounce back we can get you into a V where you belong anyhow! :D Chin up big guy! |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II

Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Man Tim, this thread just slipped right on past my radar. Sorry to hear about this... and I agree with Jon, how could ANYONE have a compatibility issue with Dee? Probably some lazy slob who was sick of Dee actually WORKING and DOING HER JOB the way it is supposed to be done. Vickie's job is not really secure these days either.... her companies owner (he is her boss too) is a real prick sometimes... a double talker... say one thing, mean another kind of guy. She is very unhappy with the whole situation but just can't afford to quit and can't find a sutiable replacement job.
If you guys wanna come over for a weekend just to get away from it all, let me know.... can always use another wrench on the motor!! |

Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Tim,
sorry to hear about this :( i got laid off 4-29-05 after 22 years with the same company. all to familar story. father builds a very profitable company. turns it over to the son who runs it into the ground in a few years by putting his buddys in key positions without any experience or education. screwing female employees which also led to a costly divorce. guess where the legal fee money came from  first people to go are the ones that helped make the company successfull in the first place (higher income employees) something ive noticed about companys in the last 30 years. they have little to no loyalty to employees anymore. your wife and myself need to learn NOT to become married to the company. always keep an eye out for something better. heres a couple of websites she can post her resume and search for jobs. maybe oso should have an employment forum  best of luck!!! http://www.monster.com/ http://www.careerbuilder.com/ |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II
My wife worked for a bank here in Bonita Springs for ten years in the second hand mortgage end.She got pregnant with our son so she trained some new girl to do her job and left at the end of her pregnancy and stayed at home for a couple years. Two years later the bank calls and asks if she would like to come back to work, she says sure what the heck,we could use two new cars and some other stuff so she goes back to work but she is now working under the girl that she trained befor she left and the girl feels threatened by my wife because the bank created a new position under the girl because the girl was screwing up the accounting end of it.Any ways this girl must have been blowing the president because she ran my wife thru the ringer for 2 years until the bank was bought out and my wife was the only one to be laid off.Any ways she went to real estate appraisal school and nows works at home and makes about 80k a year and doesn,t get out of bed till noon somedays. So keep your chin up i know you heard it before about how one door closes another one opens, some times it's just a little tough to find that open door.
Then there is always FLORIDA! |

I was in the cat tied two boats from you on Sunday. A smaller cat would make a great tender for your Black Thunder! Jeff |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II
It's a Firehawk 26' which is a bottom splash of an American offshore, which is a splash of a ... you get the picture. It has a GM 540 ci with about 625-650 hp. Stellings box, Imco Shorty. Runs high 90's and with more set up time would probably hit 100 mph. I've driven this boat several times and it is ROCK SOLID in choppy water (LOTO and Lake Michigan) and friggen QUICK!!!!! I've got some more pics of it here somewhere, gimme a second.

Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Cord,
Sorry to hear this. :( Hope things turn around for you guys quickly. Dan BTW, taking the boat to Blarney's Island sounds like a good idea. |
Re: The axe drops again! Part II
Wally's idear of Blarneys is a great one. Sucks that it's on Thursdays though. I havn't been down there in years, I really need to make that trip again. Are there any dates planned by the board?
Thanks Mike for posting the pics! I'm finding out why they offered me a sallary position. 11 hours yesterday and proably all the way through August. I just don't get the posting time on the board like I used too. No, the BH is not included. Not that you'd want it anyway. The steering bracket will need to be custom made and it won't be easy. I'll put the blackhawk on my next boat. |
