|
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
there's a challege between all manufactor's to be the first to 100 mph!
 |
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Those speeds will just cause more accidents and deaths!
|
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
I rode one of those stupid things that went 60 a couple weeks ago. That seemed fast. The wierd thing is that 60 on a snowmobile on a frozen lake is like nothing, it gets fun at 115.

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
lake lice

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
don't knock it till you've tried it.
Stock RXP goes well over 70, what a ride !! |

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
That is a SeaDoo, Yamaha makes the waverunner! Not tring to be a smart@$$ but its like calling a Fountain or a Donzi a cigarette boat! And yes I do own a RXP! Zero to sixty under five seconds!

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
I love it, has more power than my first boat :) and it's 11 ft long. It accelerates so fast it is silly :evilb:
It also cost's WAY less than 1 engine  As my boat project is moving at less than 0 speed this is not too bad for a HP fix. |

My GP1200 gets to 62 in just about 5 seconds  :D |
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Oviously some $$$s were spent to go that fast. There was a national speed cap set for manufacturers by the government to limit waverunners, jetskis or seadoos at 65mph a few years back. That is pretty sick though. Sounds as if he has a turbo or supercharger on there. Pretty wild.

:drink: :drink: :drink: Personally, I don't see how my 11 foot jet ski that does 70 is any more a threat than my 38 foot Fountain. It's all in the operator. But I will give you the fact that the operator of a performance boat is much more likely to follow the rules of the water than most people who get on jet skies. I am just saying that the fault does not lie with jet ski itself. |

The stock RXP has a 1500cc 3 cylinder four stroke with a intercooled Vortec supercharger that makes 215 hp at 8100 rpm! The guy in the video has a Rotax racing stage three kit that makes 280 hp!
|
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Yeah, it's ALL in the operator. Problem is ANYONE can run out and buy a wave runner and they do! All the inner city trash who want to play on the water... everyone! No one teaches them safety or sensible operation or common courtesy at the dock. It's just a matter of if you have the $6-7k to buy one.
On the other hand the type of person who has amassed enough wealth to buy a 38 Fountain/Cig... whatever, has spent some time boating before the purchase. They also tend to be over the age of 18 and have learned which head is doing the driving! I've seen too many kids out here on the Delta and Bay get themselves killed on those things. If they had just a little and I do mean a LITTLE instruction they would be much safer. I like to ride those lice too, they're cheap fun and little rockets. I don't want to see them outlawed, just tempered. |
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Let's not forget the person on the boat who's been drinking all day
I'll have to go with driver error and stupidity :drink: |
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
my back hurts just thinking about it

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
There wasn't ever a law about the 65 mph cap,, it was an agreement between the manufacturers and the coast guard, not to exceed 65,, never a law.. That agreement has now expired,, but truth be told there is only one stock ski that actually breaks 65 and that is the rxp, which does between 67-70,, My 99 modded kawi ultra 150 does 68 and my 03 ultra 150 does 66...
I highly doubt you will ever see much over 70 from stock pcw's,, it takes kawi about 200-250 hp to reach the 70's and sea-bomb's 215 to barely hit 70,, so unless these guys start comming out with close to 300 hp ski's it isn't gonna happen.. |

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
My Ultra has hit 68 on GPS and i've been EJECTED at full speed on several occasions,, it's just plain PAINFUL.....
Jet pumps are VERY in-efficient,, it takes TONS of HP to make speed. Even with supercharging and turbo's, most ski's are still in the low 60's with the exception being the RXP which is in the high 60's. boost increases for the majority of skis will still only get them into the mid to high 60's. which is still PLENTY fast for an 11 footer.. :) |
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
WOW!!!
 |
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Per the title of this post, here's an actual 83 MPH Yamaha Waverunner. Since this video, this ski has run 85.2 MPH! It's a big bore, triple-piped 2-stroke.

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Last I heard, the owner of outback steak house held / holds the PWC speed record on a HIGHLY modified yamaha gpr 1200,, stated he had over 50 grand invested in the ski and hit mid 80's on a two run pass...

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Yes, Riva Motorsports built that Waverunner. With the owner on board, it ran 87.5 MPH during an official APBA sponsored event. Unofficially, I heard that it broke 90 MPH with a different rider.

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
In 1998 My wife and I had two gp 1200 waverunners .
we enjoyed them very much .but with two girls it became hard to go boating . The two thing that I remember the most was how great it was to ski salom behind . They put up next to nothing for a wake so for those of you that haven't tried it put that power to use and ski behind them you will be impressed . second everyone that doesn't have one hates them. just the way I remember it . Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
I've got a rxp and a GTX limited both have 215hp. If you guys will build me one with a 496 in it I'll ride it. Take that R Addiction :evilb:

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Plumb Crazy,
Correct me if I am wrong, but on the 83mph pass the rider isn't wearing a helmut?    In the reflection it only looks as though he has a set of eye goggles and the cam. |
Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
was that a flash of gold REGGIE

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
i had a 1999 Kawi Ultra and with 6-8 gallons of fuel bone stock got radar'd by Paul @ Jr Magoo's in TR, NJ at 71 mph...99's were the fastest Ultra ever made after that they agree'd to restrict them to 69 mph as per my local Sea Doo Dealer

Sharkeymarine, I hear you. But, for the same reason Harley riders don't wear a helmet, it just wouldn't be cool. |

Re: 83 Mph Waverunner
Great, now we will have that many more accidents. I know a few performance boaters have these things and they know what they are doing; but the vast majority don't have a clue of how to handle them out in the bays and ocean and cause nothing but problems for the true boating enthusiasts!!!
