Apalachicola/Government Cut info needed

I'm off to Mobile to pick up my boat next week. I am marking my charts with all the stop over possibilities between Mobile and Ft. Meyers.
Apalachicola looks to be a good stop but I'm wondering about the depths in and around Government cut. The charts don't give much detail (local knowledge, shifting shoals). I'll be on my 50 Bertram with 4.5' draft.
Thanks!
Dave

No clue, but it sounds like a hard place to pronounce, so I thought I'd spell it phoenetically, here goes....

"MID-L-O-No-Wear"! But, perhaps they will have some 'goodwill ambassadors' who can keep you company! :evilb: :D

Enjoy your trip. Thanks again for the referral about the appliances.

Call me when you get back.

I don't know exactly...
But I can tell you that the west coast of Fl is shallow.. Not just shallow, but friggin' shallow.

Cuda did a lot of boating on the wc, as does Ryan Beckley and Nasty Habit, and Wardey....Outlaw Formula...
Jesus , who else?? Lots of members over there...

the Naples/Marco Island area is nice as well.

(that's a big boat...)

DJD,

You wont have any problems. A few years ago I ran a 47 footer from NOLA to Puerto Rico. The boat only had 200NM range and I had to pull into Apalachicola for fuel. The channel was well marked and easy access to the fuel dock. There was a dredge working and we had to call them to move so we could get by. If you go out of the channel you will run out of water really fast.

Good Luck and have fun

Brad

There is also a marked offshore channel up in the Big Bend area.

Hi Dave
I just went thru there yesterday. Plenty of places to stop from Pensacola on to Panama city. They all looked deep and wide. Should be no problem. As usual, anywere in the gulf.....STAY IN THE CHANNEL!! if your near shore.
You'll be passing right by my house on the Calloosahatchee, so if you need a place to overnite or Re supply in Ft Myers let me know.

Dan
