I know first hand that a 32' Sunsation was on the upside of 70mph w/454mpi's. I ran an '01 on Lake Lanier a few times and it ran great to about 70, more left but I was on a borrowed boat so...

I'd go Sunsation, I like Fountains but only over 35'.

If that's the case I wouldn't expect much more with the 502's. I would guess that the Fountain is a faster boat, but the Sunsation is going to be bigger and roomier inside. The Sunsation will probably look a little more modern too (nicer interior, better graphics, more modern looking cabin), but maybe you like the look of of Fountains vinyl graphics and big windshields? If speed is all you care about get the Fountain, if you want a nice good looking boat that will still run respectable than get the Sunsation.
I posted on the other thread referenced. My guess is the 454 mpi referenced in that thread is a 310 hp (7.4mpi), not a 454 mag 385 hp. The 385 HP will run between 75 and 80 depending on conditions.

I have a friend that used to have a 32 fountain that has driven my dominator and his comment first time out was the Sunsation handled the water at LOTO much better. As far as speed, Reggie has always made fast boats, and good hulls. But then again Sunsation is not lacking in that category either.

Sunsation service is outstanding. I've never owned a Fountain so can't comment on Reggie's service.

Buy what you like best.....

And you can always buy mine if you want

The 32 fountains sit a little low, that's the only thing I don't like about 'em.

Other than that, they're both good boats.

32 dominator w/ 6.2's does exactly 70 as tested in powerboat... w/ mpi's I would guess 76 w/ 502's I would guess 78-79 w/ h.o.'s I would guess low 80's

Thats makes more sense, I thought 69 was a little slow for WOT. Sunsation is a pretty boat, I've been in a couple here at the dealer in town. Nice tooling on the dash and cockpit area. Never been in a 32 Fountain but my partner has a 27 and its real tight everywhere. Engine compartment is crammed (motor is under the rear seat), cockpit is ok but looks dated (no color or custom tooling), no cup holders anywhere, cabin is basically a small box, you couldn't sit four people in the lounge area, bed is big but close to the deck, takes a week to get on plane even with trim tabs (who needs tabs on a 27' boat?). As mentioned above, it takes on water through the swim deck because it sits so low, crappy design if you ask me. Vinyl stickers, no paint or custom gel coat work. It is rigged pretty nice though, lots of through bolts, excellent tooling work, lots of good looking parts with the Fountain name on them to give that custom look. I think the only reason people buy them (the smaller Fountains) is because they are brain washed into thinking since they are "Fountains" they have to be a great boat. I know the bigger Fountains are fast and race proven but I see nothing nice (in my opinion) about the smaller ones. Just my .02 from what I've seen personally.
I know my boat is piece of sh!t too, I would buy a Top Gun or Slingshot if I could afford one, so dont think that I think my sh!t doesn't stink either. The thread asked for opinions on those two particular types of boats and I gave mine.......

The fountian sits reeeeaaalll low in the water too! Be prepared for people tell you "I think your boat is sinking sir"
Losing sight of the horizon ? A 32 with 502s hardly loses sight of the water ....

the dominator sits close to the water with twin big blocks but not as low as the 32 fever
quess thats why they stopped making them.
