Re: Michigan City to Chicago
Post this on the Chicago Power Boat Forum, we go to MI city all the time, but I don't launch there. If you are in a hurry, PM a bunch of the guys you see posting in that forum from Indiana.

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
The only place you can launch your boat is trail creek marina. It is off Michigan BLVD (highway 29) right across from the blue chip casino. I do all my boating in MC, I launch my 28' Nordic their all the time. I think I remember seeing somewhere you have a 46' Cig, that might be challenging to launch their, the piers are kind of short. Hope this helps.

By the way, it is 32 miles straight across the lake from MC to Chi-town.

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
I'll post on Chi Boat Club forum and maybe go further west. Short piers would be a bit difficult. It's just the wife and me. Thanks for the input.

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
The best ramp you could launch in my opinion would be hammond marine. The ramps their are awesome, very long you should not have any problems their.

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
I was just looking at that on my MapSource. Thanks. I'll check it out.

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
Where do you usually boat, we have a lot of members in CPC from IN. You would probably like the club, it is made up of a lot of couples so your wife would have a good time to. Are you available June 25th, we are having a fun run and steak fry afterwards

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
We'll go ANYWHERE! Usually Lake Erie, Lake Michigan. We just recently got back from Pickwick TN.Met some of Majic Float's admirer's. Stayed there on the boat at the Marina for an entire week :drink: Wife and I just got back from an awesome day on Lake Michigan. We launched in New Buffalo which is just under an hour from our lake house. We took a run to Chicago. The water was like glass and towards the end of the day the wind died down to nothing. Got back on the trailer just in time for a quick thunderstorm in New Buffalo. If the calendar's open on that day I'll be there. Probably take the same route I took today. The wife's really enjoying the big waters. If it looks like I can make it I'll let you know. I lived in Homewood and Crete all my life before I got married and may even know some of the boaters in the club. Thanks for the invite.

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
Don't forget about Pastrick Marina! Pastrick Marina has a very nice launch ramp as well and is between Michigan City and Hammond. It seems as if many people are either unaware of Pastrick Marina's nice launching ramp or usually forget about it. It is really a nice spot to launch a long offshore boat.

Re: Michigan City to Chicago
It's exactly one hour from my lakehouse where later this year I'll be storing the boat. Straight up 35 to 39 and 39 brings you right to the launch. Easy drive. $25.00 per launch. I bought a season pass for $80.00. The town is sweet. Nice restaraunts, great atmosphere and they have a ton of new Condo type units with slips. Tempting! I saw a real nice Cig there. He ws heading out for a quick run as I was heading in. The guy had a boxer in his Cig. Maybe someone will know who it is. Nice ride. The overnight slip for a 38' was $48.00 with shorepower. Took one hour to Chicago via water. Beautiful day!
