Crazy/Dave, tried calling you a couple times. Glad you are doing well. Don't worry about the ice gel packs---just use them, and get well! Oh, I like your boat without the lunch pail handle. :)

Fred, your boat looks very nice----great lines!

Dan, thanks for your comments.

Roger, sounds like you're having fun with your boat so far this year---glad to hear it. I am so busy with work, but am hoping to get at least the port engine installed tomorrow morning.

By the way, Doug's engine block is on the stand at WESCO's in a plastic bag about to be assembled.

Re: Paging Kaama....

in a plastic bag, eh,,,,,,,,,,,,sounds like dave is trying to smother it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i might see if barb will run me out to wes co just to get out for a little while and to see dyno's big red engines. maybe stop at the old time diner for breakfast too. dyno mentioned blasting and painting the emi exhaust manifolds red too. any word on that? i think thast would really set it off.

Yeah Dave---guess we're going to have to start calling Dyno/Don "BIG RED" from now on. :D

But we all know they won't last long 'cause they aint black!!

Re: Paging Kaama....

Wes Co can get away with painting different colors. He ain't superstitious like me. Besides, if no one is looking at them are they really red? kinda like that thing about the tree falling when there's no one there to hear it,,,,,,,,,what was this thread about?
All motors are black in the dark,,,,,,,,,,,,,wow, man.

Yeah, I can just hear how the conversation went...

Crazyhorse: "Like, uh---wowsville man....like, ga-rooovy. Like, how did the engines get painted black???"

Other dude: "They didn't! We just shut the lights off in the room."

Crazyhorse: "Oh yeah,----wow man! Must be them pain killers kickin' in, but cool idea dude man....like far out---that's some pretty heavy color of black man,----like, dark side of the moon man------Like, I am really diggin' the hip dark action on them engines man!"

Couldn't resist Dave---just having a little fun with you a bit. Hope you're doing well. :)

I guess you're going to have to speak for yourself this time Don---on my way out the door, and headed for the shop now, and see if we can have them in by this evening! That is if eveything goes smoothly. I guess they will be "in" when they're "in"---just got to keep at it. I think I have all the little details taken care of---anything that happens will be hypothetical.

And My boat still sits under the winter cover with the drives on their stands in the garage.
Between work and the new house I don't hae much free time.
And when that stuff is done then I get to start on the TOY BOX.

Hi Shawn. Well, sort of I do. If you look closely you'll see a 2x4 holding up the hatch. I have yet to hook up the hatch actuator/cylinder. That will be one of the last things I do.

Tonight we were able to get the drive-lines all bolted together, starter/battery cables connected and all electrical stuff is now connected except for a couple of ground wires/cables, power steering pump is mounted.

Carbs still need to be mounted, throttle cables, fuel lines, oil lines to the thermofilters, water lines, etc.....we're still checking equipment.

Mr Gadgets 06-22-2005 06:35 AM

Re: Paging Kaama....

I'll be making a call today to see if the push rods are done and on their way.. (Holding my breath!). That will be the stopper, if they are not done and delivered. Cant put the headers on till the push rods go in..

Steve (best boiler man on the planet),
I know what you mean.. business first!! And thanks again for keeping me warm this winter!!

Re: Paging Kaama....

Ok.. it is late at nite.. had a good day..so to speak..

Eye Dr appointment 9am.. left there at 11am.. with chemicals in my eyes so everything was blurryyyyyyyyyy... Worked on boat waiting on push rods.. Started tearing down a couple of broken drives Push rods made it at 2:30 pm.. Set lash and buttoned up the motor.. added exhausts.. etc.. Fired or tried to fire at 9pm... found after much busy trouble shooting that I fried my coil while setting up the valve lash.. Rolled the motor over without pulling the kill cord.. Opps..
Tossed in an old coil.. and wham.. that thing sound nice without the mufflers!!!!!!!

So the engine is done.. well need to tune the EFI.. Need to head to Lane Auto and get a new coil.. Find a bank to rob to get gas money..
And then find where to get the annual GH launch permit.. Then I will hit the water and do the tuning.. etc..

So I am close.. very ... waiting for sunlight..

How's everyone else doing??

I will try to get up that way if all goes well Dave!! I may need some of those drugs you have.. I am one sore old man.. let me tell you.

Best excersize I get is working on the boat. Up the ladder, down the ladder.. up.. down..

Good nite. it is late..

Dick

Dick

waaa, waaa. you want some cheese with that whine?
Dick, we'll have an ice-cold beverage waiting for you when you get there.
Fred, I'll be there even if I have to carry the pain meds with me. Are you going to be around this weekend? If so, I might ask if you can cut the hole in my panel for my new Raymarine C120 display, just like Dave and Mel have on their Sea Ray.
http://www.raymarine.com/raymarine/P...RODuct_id=1677
Wanna know why KAAMA hires people to work on his stuff? BECAUSE HE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!
Dyno, hope it all comes together today. You'll be on the water in time for a couple of the Muskegon Summer Celebration concerts. I'm looking forward to running to White Lake for a burger at the tavern next weekend. Fred or Waterfoul may have to drive mine though.
Powerquest and Great Lakes Marina are sponsoring a PQ regatta July 23-24, which is also the weekend of the Muskegon Air Show. The Blue Angels will be there and as you may remember, the Angels fly right over the marina on their inbound runs during their routine.

Dave, I believe we (Vickie and I) will be in Muskegon (well, Twin Lakes anyway) next weekend. If you don't mind both of us tagging along, we might be able to work out something so you can get your boat out on the lake. I'd love to drive you around!!

Re: Paging Kaama....

Well it is late again.... Dave, I wasnt whining.. just tellin the folks how much work it is to get on the water around here..

Well I was out and it ran.. and I liked it.. !!! So far only a minor oil leak to contend with.. And yes I made it to Muskegon.. but everyone went to Dockers and thats were I ended up..

Still tuning EFI.. well it tunes itself.. and maybe tomorrow I can see what it will do..

Dick

PS.. how's everyone doing? Running yet?

Dick, glad to hear your on the water,i'm STILL waiting on tail pipes, gotta love the little last minute details when putting a boat back together. Hope to meet some of you guys this summer,Smitty

KAAMA 06-25-2005 07:35 AM

Re: Paging Kaama....

Glad you made it out on the water Dick. I just found a bad trim indicator cable on the port drive that I need replaced. It cracked through the outer sheath/casing. I took the boat to Ben's shop to have it fixed---plus a few other little odds, and ends. Keep those -2's ready for me. ;)

From there I went to Great Lakes Marina in Muskegon to meet up with Crazyhorse, and Fred. I also saw BGIII out there with his 34' Saber, and Chuckster with his 30' Checkmate (the old Blue Moon)---plus I met a few other new people with some long boats. Ended up going to Docker's at about 9:30 with BGIII, and his buds for a bite to eat. It was about 93*, but once we drove over to Docker's it dropped to about 75*. Bill said the lake water was kind of cool and with Docker's being so close to Lake Michigan you could really feel a big difference just driving over from Great Lakes Marina to Dockers---I was just kind of suprised at the difference. Anyway, had a nice evening and it was good to see some of the guys.

Dyno,i know how you feel. We are still wrenching too. Everyother year we've had the motor out and its always the first wk of july before boat is back together.Between 40hrs at work and 30-40 hours in the transmission shop come the few hours on sat or sunday its hard to climb in the boat and get anything done. Got the motor aligned yesterday and drive on,would be more motivated if i had the tailpipes,Smitty
