My ol' Phantom 25 with a Promax 300 SVS runs 76 mph on a average day. 78 mph on a good one. Tried it with 2 x 2.5 EFI SS and it ran 98 mph...
Kept it wth single engine as the fuel price is 1,8 USD per litre...

1991 Chaparral 2550 SX..4600 lbs dry...454/330 hp bone stock...full 82 gallons fuel/5 gallon water....honest 55mph(speedo)...one person..4600 rpm..mirge 3 blade stock prop...it always does 52-53mph regardless of load/persons on board...saw 57mph(speedo) on a cool day- once chine walking..lol..half tank solo......................looking for 60's +mph....I heard blueprinting the hull will add 5mph?.....any thoughts from you PROS..?....I love the ride and the comfortable luxury cuddy on this boat......may drop a 502/500 hp in it next year after blueprinting hull......to hopefully achieve 70's ...can't find anyone who has hotrodded this model.....anybody out there modified a 2550SX?..I have to believe as well built and heavily constructed as it is...it WILL HANDLE the higher horsepower won't it?...looking at ohter boats performance/weight /to HP ratios...I think 500 hp should make 70+ MPH ..........right?

It would be cheaper and more fun to buy my 20' outboard Ski tunnel and Fly in the mid 70s then to put a big block in that beast
