1989 17' wellcraft 17 sport information

i just got a 1989 17' wellcraft with a 115 hp mercury outboard motor. it was given to my younger brother and he went out and bought new seats for it because the boat had sat for 3 years under a tarp but still damaged the seats. he went out and spent $460 for new front double seats and 2 rear single seats and a new marine battery. well he lost interest in it and sold it to me for $400.00 with an easy loader trailer. the boat and trailer in my opinion is in great shape. trailer needed 2 new tires (done) boat needed new seats (done) now as i looked under the dash and check all the lights and stuff i find that most things don't work like the lights and stuff so i found the power panel and found all the connections were corroded so im starting the project of doing all the rewiring. also the bilge pump was dead so i bought a new rule 800gph pump to replace it $31.00.

where can i find info on this boat and motor. also is there a alternator on the motor that charges the battery ? i am new to boats so please go easy on me . im a quick learner. is there any advice to getting this boat back into running other then the common sense things like new gas and oils in the motor. the motor does run quite well even on old gas . only ran it for a few minutes with the water flowing into the motor through one of those clamp things on the intake vents. thank you in advance for any info, advice and help.

welcome to OSO , but this site is more geared to inboard powered boats. you best bet for your problems is to find a local mercury service center and they should be able to give you more info and repair advice. good luck. :)
