Re: Minnesota Boat Explosion

Well I don't know if you consider it "Jet Fuel" but I do know that some guys with really hopped up outboards run Airplane fuel.

Haven't confirmed whose boat it is...

I know a couple of guys on the Ham Lake fire department...as soon as I find out, I will let you guys know.

Supposedly it was a 40' v-hull.

I just drove by the house...didn't stop though. The news media was there...looked like he had his hands full! I believe it is "Grand Illusions" house. Couldn't tell if it was his boat in the garage or not. The roof fell on the boat and everything looked pretty "charred"! Between him and some other local guys, I think there are a couple of boats that frequent the house. The house has sustained quite a bit of damage too!

Well, thank God nobody was hurt!

Now it's a matter of jumping through all those "nasty" insurance hoops!

Thanks for the update! He had a 38 top gun that he was selling as well as his new 50 hustlers. That could have turned out allot worse.

If you watch the Video that sure looks like a white top kick in the background.

Just got the word on another site. It was grand illusion. The boat exploded whan he turned on the fuel pumps at the helm. He was burned but okay. The boat is burned and the house isn't livable.

I just wonder if they meant "racing fuel"?? You know how accurate reporters can be!

Re: Minnesota Boat Explosion

I know that it was not the 38' Top Gun. It is being stored at the same place that I keep my boat at and it was there yesterday. I looked at the 38 Top Gun when it was at his house. He has a beautiful home as well as a nice boat garage.

Glad everyone is okay! The house can be repaired.

Re: Minnesota Boat Explosion

From what I understand, there was maybe 3 drums of "race gas" in the garage. However, they did not ignite! Supposedly there was some kind of spark in the bilge that started the fire and then the boats fuel tanks went up!

It was racing gas. He told the reporters that it was aviation fuel (AV 100LL) and they took that to be jet fuel. It was a 50' Hustler with triple hp 1,000's. "Grand-Illusion" lives 5 mins down the street from me. He just got the boat and never even took it out to run. I sure hope the best for him.
