Power steering question
1 Attachment(s)
I noticed some play in my rack steering system. After inspecting my gimbal ring and finding NO play whatsoever, I noticed that the power steering actuater was allowing the cable to move. It was moving the whole tube like connection that the cable was connected to. Any ideas if this can be adjusted out in any way? Thanks for the help.

Re: Power steering question
I'm having a similar problem of wheel slack at the helm, I turn the wheel and the whole disc like assembly behind the dash that the cable is connected to, moves. From behind the dash, I can turn that disc like thing about 30 degrees before it engages the steering wheel. So I have a lot of slop between the disc thing and the steering wheel which looks like a splined shaft connection wear problem. Just wondering if your issues was the same and if you figured out what to do..

Re: Power steering question
Roby, I may be wrong but I think the movement there is normal. Something about valveing for L/R turning? Like I said to East Coast B......going full hydraulic when the $$$ gets here!! :D

Re: Power steering question
If it happens that you need a new Mercruiser power-steering cylinder assembly, like the one pictured above...I have a brand-new one, in the box, available for $175.00 shipped. It's Mercury part number #806034A2, which includes the two hoses as well. $135.00 shipped, without the hoses. Ed
