Re: Dock lines and Fenders

Two big fenders per side.
Two 8' docklines per side - 3/8 braid with an eye-splice.

Sorry Cat did not know he was a friend, that kind of question on this site just got me laughing :D hopefully you and and Kenneth will show him the "ropes"

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

At least 4 -10' docklines.

Try to stretch a 6 foot dockline over an 8'6" beam boat when one boat is trying to slip out of a raft-up = loss of $200 Oakleys.

Geeze...the ladies are tough tonight. :drink:
Id go 2 big fenders, bigger than you think you need but still managable.
4 twelves
2 twentyfive's
That should cover most any situation even though you will most often only need 2 telves and fenders.

That's ok...I know you were kidding! Besides, I busted his chops on another thread a while back. :p But, he is a good guy and I'm sure he'll get a laugh out of this.

Take care!

I carry 4 big fenders. 2 for when im tying up at the docks, or next to someone. 2 for the dildo thats trying to tye up next to me with $5 walmart bumpers.

i keep 2-12's and 2-25's.

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

actually I will add one thing, we don't have covers on our fendors/bumpers and a guy we were going to raft off of, made a big deal about it. So before the next poker run I am buying those stretchy covers for our bumpers, not sure what they are called, but you might want to get those also

amen brutha . . i keep same stuff on board. altough i have no problem refusing the idiot that has clothes line and PFD's to raft with. zero tolerance there.

one rule of thumb for dock lines is atleast two lines no shorter than the length of your boat and spend the extra few $$$ for 1/2 inch or 5/8ths. i also keep 4 25 foot 3/8ths as well (for what ever).

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

sorry Ms Patriyatch i am a mechanic. I have not ever had the chance to raft up with other boats. Yes its a small boat with my great boss maybe in a yr or so it will grow. One doesnt make a fortune as a mechanic exspecially here in SC. I guess i should have just called Mrs Wigginout's better half and asked him. I wanted a few opinons on what every one thought. Glad you did touch the one question i didnt ask. I want to enjoy my time on the lake. I dont think many people try skiing behind a 30 ft plus boat. I allready figured i needed at least 4 lines and fenders just length was my bigest question . Looks like its another one of thoose deals if you have more then needed your better off. Thank you very much Mrs Wigginout.

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

Sorry forgot its just a 89 SVC200 stingray solid red like very other thing i own. I can only dream of owning a boat as gorgeous as that wigginout boat. Besides little bit larger then i want to tow every weekend to get wet since i am lucky right now to get one day on a weekend.

I would think GlassDave would recommend "NO" bumpers ...

"Job Security" :drink:

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

No bumper covers no tie up period.I don't want to spend 8 hrs. buffing out the scatches because the owner didn't want to spend a nother $20 for covers.Superwrench make sure you have Ken show you how too leave your bumpers tied up on the outside of the boat when your going down the lake.lol just bustin your chops Ken.Hope everything going good at L.M.Hope to see you'll soon. :D

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

(2) 8 x 22 fnders w/ covers, (2) 6 x 20 fenders w/ covers, (6) 1/2 x 25 ft braided dock lines. Kept these on a 30 ft cruiser, then a 21 ft runabout, now a 31 go-fast. Also keep a 150 ft 3/8 spare "anchor" line and spare anchor to back into the beaches we hang at.

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

My boat is 24ft.
Don't raft up much.
I have 4 6"(dia) fenders. Two of them have lines on each side, incase i need them tied up horizontally.
I have 2 15ft, 4 20ft & 2 25ft lines.
I just added 2 of the 20ft lines w/ snap hooks on them to attach to my bow/stern eyes, for easy attachment.

Re: Dock lines and Fenders

I keep 4 of the PolyForm large (G-6 ??) fenders on board but no covers. Are the covers canvas? What material are they? If the fender is kept clean would it not scratch less than a canvas type cover?

Thanks

What he said, and maybe 2 more fenders to cover yourself when rafting...because the other guy's is too small or he doesnt have enough ( Thats what she said also :D )

If you're gonna invest in anything, I would make sure it's a "quality handler" :drink:
