Default Royal Purple Poker Run Accident

Did anyone hear of an Eliminator rolling at the poker run this last weekend in New Orleans?

Yup. It flipped. I have heard several stories, but only one that sounded plausible from a guy that runs the gas dock nearest the accident site. We drove out and saw the boat before it was recovered. The bottom was still intact, but that was all I could see. A friend of mine was parked in the channel between Maurepas and Ponchartrain when he went by just before the accident (less than a mile). Said he was moving pretty fast, but they didn't see anything unusual. I don't know anything about injuries.

We were on the side of him in a 26 DCB right before the Maurepas and never saw him turn in then heard about it at the prop stop. Just wondering if everyone was OK?

I came up on the boat just after it happened. Everyone was OK and did not need assistance. Soon after the police came so we continued the run. Later the owner told a friend that he was entering Manchac pass, got too far to the left (south), turned, hit a cypress stump and rolled. Based on how shallow the water was where the boat ended up they were extremely lucky.

Brent Melancon owns an Eliminator with blower motors I think.

I would have needed assistance cleaning my shorts after that.

This was the story I heard that sounded credible. The gas dock guy was guessing when he said it, so I didn't want to spread speculation. By the way, I think I met you and your buddy from Houston at the hotel Friday night. I looked for you guys on the water the next day and didn't find you. I figured the bad weather scared you off.

Just goes to show that there is more to safe boating than just being prepared. Let's hear it for our two safe boaters of the weekend, Racer-x6 and StripPoker388, who were safe boaters all Saturday, because they NEVER LEFT THE PROP STOP.
