Different ways to say thanks... (Boating favors)
Just curious, what other things work well for you and what do you appreciate?
At my regular performance shop I usually buy the guys lunch when I pick up the boat, especially since the last two times I have been in there, it has been the height of busy season, and they have me turned around and boating again on or before the following Friday. When its a little something, and someone put some extra effort, a nice cold and frosty case of beer on a Friday afternoon goes a long way. They don't forget. Even if I am a little short on cash, this effort is well worth it when it comes time to needing help in the future.
Same note, after staying at a couple friends' places here from OSO, taking a visit to www.kcsteak.com and placing an order from our buddy SummerObsession goes a LONG way, and folks still rave about those steaks.
Just trying to share some ideas.

Sure, I provide Bill beer all the time! He keeps it running and I keep it clean.
But you are right, Brian. Bill and I had this conversation not long ago about when he was working at XXXX Marina in Woodbridge.
Great topic! Patti

We usually give our mechanic extra $$ to take his wife out to dinner. But, Kenneth has also given them beer for the weekend.

I usually give friends money for gas or take them to a nice dinner if we stay at their house or go on their boat. As far as a mechanic goes....haven't had one yet that I didn't want to strangle.

With that reply I hope that your mechanic lets you go boating at the END of the summer. He's probably busy with the customers who can show a little appreciation. I know that I am.
