Gun Laws for boats/State by State

FYI, anyone who wants to know what the gun laws are pertaining to their state can go to two different sites. The second, sponsored by the NRA is a little more user friendly than the first site, sponsored by the ATF.

This is something that those of us who do carry gun/s on board should check out.

ATF site: http://www.atf.gov/firearms/statelaw...tion/index.htm

NRA site: www.nraila.org/gunlaws/

Depending on where I'm going and for how long I carry a flare gun and Glock 45.

I have a concealed weapons permit, and will usually have a handgun somewhere in my vehicle or boat unless I'm going to California.......

Re: Gun Laws for boats/State by State

I've had a concealed weapon permit for over 25 years. I never go anywhere without my Baretta .40 loaded up with "Black Talons" with 3 spare clips.

Back in 95' my then wife and I were traveling across the Okachoebee Waterway (spelling?) and just idling along in our 242 Formula, twin small blocks. Two guys in a bass boat went by us about 50 mph and came back. Obviously VERY drunk, asking me if I wanted to race. I just said no, we're enjoying ourselves, have a nice day. Then one started brandishing a pistol. My ex wife passed me one of my toys low so the fisherdrunks couldn't see. An AR-15 with twin 30 shot banana clips taped together. They kept getting close slurring about racing, and finally I just held the AR up and they got the message and took off as fast as they could. About two hours later we passed them fishing and I just waved and they flipped me off so I just blew them a kiss.

Nothing can ruin a fine day of boating faster than a bunch of drunk redneck fisherman. (no offense meant to the responsible fisherpeople on this Forum)

The barrett is the bomb!!! I had one and sold it after I shot it a couple of times....it was difficult to find a place to safely shoot it......that and the fact that my teeth ached after running 50 to 75 rounds through it. It would take down a 12 to 15 inch live oak tree with 5 to 7 shots. That was the biggest rush I ever got for $7900.00....and I got all my money back when I sold it! :D :D :D :D

40 cal glock, never used to until one night i got off the water about midnight and there was aqbout thirty gangbangers in the dark marina parking lot gettin loaded. It was very uncomfortable with just me and girlfriend. I didnt hang around to dry the boat off that night. Taking the shotgun along, also seems like a good ideal. JAIME

Recoil is not bad thanks to a large muzzle brake and the barrell slides back towards the reciever,it is a recoil not gas operated rifle.Shooting it off of the deck of the Skater(with a towell under the bipod legs of course), it brought a whole new meaning to sound traveling over water!

I keep the kimber full of winchester controlled expansions , which is basically a hotter law enforcement only black talon .

Re: Gun Laws for boats/State by State

Anyone ever see what a "Black Talon" does???

A buddy of mine and I filled a fifty five gallon drum of water, got onto a ladder, and fired it down into the drum. It opens up to eight little razor sharped tips angled by 90 degrees, and remember, when this bullet hits, it's not only spinning but begins to tumble. It's like a little chainsaw turning and twisting it's way through something. It was scary just to look at it. :drink:
