Picture #1 has mirrored lettering with black outline.
Picture #2 is black first word and yellow with black out line. You comments are important to me. Mark Smith |
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
Need pics Mark !!!

Re: Which lettering do you like better?
#2
|
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
I like #1 because it compliments the boat better. The second picture seems to dominate the boat, and that's a pretty boat.
|
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
#1 because it kinda carries over the look from the last paint job....
|
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
Mark,
I prefer the black/yellow choice. The mirrored one is like the old setup and since you have totally redone the boat, I feel the mirrored letters should be part of the past. Very nice paint by the way !!! Is it painted yet and on the water??? |

I will be down at Grandview Condos this weekend. C U there. i am going to plead the fifth.... :drink: :drink: but i still like the first, maybe because it is script compared to the block letters.... |
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
In my opinion. the name is placed too far forward. the one on the right is way too big and dominates the boat and makes it look bow heavy.you should make it smaller and move it back even if it covers some of the graphics. . rule of thumb, is the name should be centered of the wind screen, or back, but never in front of it. this my opinion, but I have painted 100's of names on boats. I hope this helps you.( great looking boat.)

Re: Which lettering do you like better?
I picked # 2 , But personally I would not put anything on at all. That boat looks awesome, The writing on the side is taking something away from the boat. If you had a third choice to pick from that said no writing at all , I would of picked that.

I like the way you have it now, with the mirrored graphics. If anything, move them farther back, but what the hell do I know? :D :D

Actually, if this was the third choice that's the one I'd pick. Names don't mean diddly to me and at times interfere with the look of the boat. My next boat won't have a name. |
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
boat looks great Mark! you guys coming to LEOPA run with it next month? i have to go with Harold (graphixworks) on the placement of the name and i do like the first one. see ya

Re: Which lettering do you like better?
I'm rounding up a crew. There will be a few Ocean Express cats there.

Re: Which lettering do you like better?
Mark,
in my opinion you could re-think the lettering style first. The second one is kind of industrial looking (and too big and too far forward as was mentioned), and the first one is downright ugly. (again, my opinion :D ) No offense intended, that is one bad azz boat and the name should enhance it. Thing about boat lettering is, it should capture the feel of the name, so this name should have some hustle (obviously). Here are some quick thoughts. email me if you want to discuss it. There is meaning to the name. It is named after one of winningest drag teams in the 70's owned by the master-mind Austin Coil from Chicago (Chi-Town) pronounced "Shy-town" My oldest brother used to run the local tracks and we would go to the nationals and watch. The commercials on TV would scream "Sunday, Sunday, Sunday........ Austin Coil currently is the crew chief for John Force's team. |
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
Sweet looking boat, no lettering would be my vote though.

Weird, in person I thought the graphics and name looked great. I can see by the pictures why everyone choose the second choice but when you see it in person the name compliments the paint job while not over powering it it.
Most importanly though, is what does Debbie think :D |
Re: Which lettering do you like better?
She hates the chrome on this paint Job.

Re: Which lettering do you like better?
Tamburello,
Thanks for the ideas. If you're looking for a check for design time, I am flat broke. In fact, I am not even putting the engines in the boat. My friend with his 20 ft. boat with a small block will tow me to the beach in the morning and back in the evening. :D :D :D |
