Loto

Have the Noise Nazi's backed down at the Lake? Just curious...don't mind their presence as they are there for safety. But, the whole noise issue really seems ludicrous.

Re: Loto

No let down, actually water patrol just brought on 10 new patrolmen and have asked the coast guard to assist. traffic has gotten bad, cruisers are killing the boating environment. stay out of the coves and in the channel, try to run in groups and avoid them in the no wake zone to the party cove. run on 1 engine thru it. I know guys who are spending 3-6k on muffler systems to comply. no muffler has yet reached 90db's on a motor 850hp or higher, the turn downs work at idle but they can ticket you running if they think you are too loud. they still escort you off the lake or to your dock after the first offense, which can ruin a weekend fast. they have also just bought new center console twin outboard patrol boats. I heard 5 new ones.

BTW,
I do know of a 40' Skater that got several noise tickets in one day. No arrest, no boat impound, just more tickets.

No, but there may (or may not) have been another incident involving the Skaters owner and the WP.

Re: Loto

Sounds like I better get some turn downs on mine before I come down for the shootout. Don't need to travel all that way to end up back on the trailer   :( :(

I think I will try those snuffler things that Troutly has on his boat. I think I can pass with those on. I have a DB meter so I will test mine this weekend. It is 90 Db at 1 meter back and up if memory serves me correctly ??

Will Has Single 525 Efi Pass?

Re: Loto

The WP will not be inforcing the noise law the weekend of the shootout. It is amazing that when there is a benefit going on that supports them (well the fire departements) they seem to forget about that law for the weekend.

this is only to, during and from the shootout if you are running, i asked last weekend.... if you are caught just running around, they will enforce it...

it will help, i am not saying they will kick ya off for it, but techincally, it will be louder than 90 db's i am sure... just keep it pointed away from the WP..... :D

I got a warning last year at the shoot out and was told to put it on the trailer.

I will be working very hard the next 2 days to make mine quiet. It won't look pretty but it may work.

Re: Loto

Thanks for all replies...looks like after the shootout, may have to re-think coming back. Too bad to, we have an absolute blast down there. Looks like it's going to go to the point where all the fun will be ruined...

Funny, aren't most of those home weekend boaters' homes? Wouldn't they want people to actually come to their lake, support the local economy?

Guess the next boat will have Silent Choice.

...and Hammer, I didn't know my boat would actually start that quiet! Although, Teah started it up Sunday and puller it off the trailer. You think I'm bad, somehow she got the throttle to nearly 4500 rpm while starting  . Talk about some noise (and a little scare) until the pipes got water through them to quiet them down! Made my heart skip when I thought I was going to have to rebuild the engine one week before LOTO!

...late
