Is there a minimum height for a transom/stern light?
Somehow deleted my first post when I meant to edit it!
Is there a minimum height requirement for a transom/stern light? |
Re: Is there a minimum height for a transom/stern light?
Must be visible in all directions 360deg, obstruction free.
That's it. But, If that's not possible, you can have 2. For instance, on my boat, I have one light mounted on the transom, which you can see from the aft 180deg, and another on the windshield, which you can see from ahead. |

Re: Is there a minimum height for a transom/stern light?
I thought the Anchor light had to be visible in all Directions,
and the Stern 135° while running. I have stern 180° and a Anchor light in front of the windscreen, but I cant see a thing if I run with it on. |
Yes
It is a height requirement above the bow light, 36" i think, but it has something to do with the length of the boat. check on the coast guard web site.
