NEED OPINIONS--6 man possible or not?

I am considering keeping the Powerplay because it will probably take a while to sell and I want to be able to use it. I was wondering if I could make room for 6 people. The bolsters have alot of room in them....you can actually fit 2 people on either side (driver// me :D // is in the middle). I was thinking of re-designing the seating to move the bolsters up forward, making them thinner and having some padding with 3 openings behind the seats...only skinny people can fit in :D

GLH has a ton of photos..got any with the seating like I'm talking about?

Thanks for the input...here's some pics of the interior to see what I'm talking about.

dont think so. would require you to move the dash forward or to change the motors to side by side. either way gonna be expensive. better off taking the loss by selling it cheaper. and getting what you want.

I remember that boat sold for 50k two years ago. how much are you lookin to get for it.

Bruce,
Trader1 bought the boat for $50K 2 years ago (it had 2 tired motors, needed upgrades and no trailer) ...I paid more than that when I bought it from Trader1. I also put over $30K into the boat.

I wasn't going to move anything exept the seating arrangement. I will have to have the bolsters made smaller and moved forward and just have an opening in the padding in for the back 3 people.

a buddy of mine has a 33'/ 6 packer he is looking to sell. real pretty and immaculate rigging. if your interested, i can get you all the info and photos.
By the way...I always liked your boat. someone has a need for it. I know it would make a great P-class race boat.

Put a pic of it here on OSO please so I can see the config. Is it a staggered setup?

Hey Gerrard, you need to find pics of that 30 flat deck bullet that's been for sale forever. It has the exact set up you're talking about. Only SKINNY people in the back...I'm out :D

Glad to hear you're planning on keeping it. We'll be out in Havasu this weekend if you're going to be out there look for us.

I know the one pic is an old boat, you get the idea :D

Now that to me would make the boat an easier sale. At that point you might as well keep it. I like the grey set up better. GO FOR IT  :D

Here is a picture of a custom 6 man bolster set up we put together on the first Pantera 36' Survivor back in late 2002. We actually still do 5 or 6 man bolsters set up on the 28' model from time to time completely custom made.I figure it would give you guys some ideas.

Regards,

Doug's TopGun with staggered engines has a similar cockpit. Try doing a search for his thread when he got it about a year ago, or PM him. He's been helpful before. Screen name "Doug"

Personally, I would not like having the front seat passengers in front of the driver. They create big blind spots. My old Formula had the passenger seat ahead of the driver's seat, and I hated that.

Re: NEED OPINIONS--6 man possible or not?

The more I look at your current cockpit, the more I think 6-man could work. How short a hub can you find for your steering wheel? If not short enough, a talented fiberglass guy could cut a notch in the center dash for the steering wheel, and make it look good while keeping it strong. Don't think it would be that big a job. Move your controls to the angled part of the dash where the tab switches are, and you're good to go. Of course, moving the whole angled part forward may not cost much more than doing a notch. And, that would give all passengers much more room. Before deciding against changing the dash, price it.

I was thinking of shortening the steering wheel hub also. I will not be changing the dash at all. If I can make it work, then that's great, but changing the dash isn't an option for me.

That pic of the green interior on the 28 pantera... I was in that boat.
the rear 3 bolsters have tons of room depth wise. You could fit 2 people.

Also, see if Too Old has some pics of his old six pack.
The padding between bolsters was not that thick.
Here is a pic, but not too good.

Thanks for the pic :D I don't have the space that Fred had on his boat...it will be tough, but I think it's doable

I moved the wheel up and put a tilt wheel in from imco..took care of the angle..you would think that it would be to high but it was not..throttles stayed in place..it was very easy!!! Bought tons of room...do it..at least a 5 man

I am assuming that the boat is Daddy Cool? That is a bad a$$ boat. Why are there throttles in the middle and on the side?

Re: NEED OPINIONS--6 man possible or not?

Well...I am training my driver so I gave myself the old throttles back on right and got headsets....when i want to run myself and drive, I hook up the throttles to right of wheel with trim on sticks ....The throttles take 2 mins. to hook up in back...you just leave the ones not being used all the way forward to keep the eyelets at carbs out of the way...
