I attached a flag to my stern light as I do every 4th weekend, and I even have it displayed to and from the river on the trailer. Well, the plastic sealing ring must have worked its way loose on the final ride up the river, or on the trailer ride home. When I went to cover it up that night, I noticed it was missing. Got home today and there it was in my doorway with a Deputy Sheriff's card that said;
"The flag fell off your boat some people gave it to me with your trailer tag number and asked if I would return it to you."

I called the Deputy's voice mail and thanked him. I was planning on stopping by West Marine tomorrow and picking up a new stern light.
