When he was killed he was the throttle-man for a 38 Cougar called Still Crazy. My younger brother (also named Mike ) and I have been trying to get information about Dad for a while. We have pictures of us with him and Still Crazy, and I have few memories of being at the races, but really memories are all we have. We do have old Still Crazy shirts, and other shirts of boats he raced before still crazy that are Staples in our wardrobe...gotta love those old, cotton shirts My brother is just like my dad, so i've heard, so i'm not only trying to find information for myself, but for him as well... he thinks it's amazing that I found this site and that people are willing to give me pictures and information. The pictures I found on here that Steve 1 posted are the first pictures i've ever seen of the boat while it was being recovered...believe me, it definatley brought tears. Yesterday I found articles from the archives of the Miami Herald Tribune that were written the day after the accident. Bone Chilling articles...but definately articles that I should have read years ago...

Todd, fax it tonight to 248-623-1461, he sounds like a guy I would like to know about. My husband rembers a bit about him and that the following year the family of the Jesse James boat started a foundation to study safety issues, to make racing safer. Miss Poppa not only will you find out more about your Dad, other people like myself that were not fans in the mid 80's will also come to learn about him as well. If someone has pictures please post them.

This was just posted in the racers section by Ron P, welcome to OSO Miss Poppa , check out the racers milling area I am sure they will be posting information for you and now you can view any picture that is posted. I know you could have bought your own membership and book but I am sure they wanted you to know you are at home here.

Talk Offshore has donated a copy of Sea Race and an OSO (Steve) has donated a subscription to Ms Poppa.

Thanks Andrew & Steve

I will find a good picture of Dad with Still Crazy and scan it in this weekend for everyone to see. My brother, cousin and I are so happy that we found this site...None of us really know much about Dad and i'm just so happy to hear such good, inspiring things.

Yep,, We rented a condo from Chuck and Tina on Beach Road for three years when we first got to Sarasota (1995).

They now live less than a mile from us on Siesta Key.
