The umbrella raises your liability on all of your listed areas of the policy (home, cars, and now boat) above that of their individual policies. It requires a minimum level on the underlying policies, but is very affordable for the extra limits. There was a lot of discussion on them on here a while ago if you do a title search on umbrella policies.
