Default New props on Order

Just ordered a set of QIv's from Throttle up
Cannot wait to see what transpires
Anyone care to guesstimate?
'99 Advantage 28' twin stock 502's
1.5 gears
bravo 1 drives
bravo 1 28" props that are over 5 years old. they actually look like the blades are flattening out
hitting the rev limits real easy at 5100 nad getting 79.4 empty
and 74-77 depending on load.
I can hit 75 in less then an 1/8 of a mile

Thinking that I should be able to gain at 4-6mph
I would love to hit 85+.

On my 89' 311 Formula with stock 454 mags, boat came with 23" Mirage. Changed to 24" Quad IV's. Gained seven mph at cruise and 3 mph on the top end. (gps) The Quad IV's are a stern lifting prop and my boat is real azz heavy. Getting the azz up and out of the water reduced drag tremendously which is how I got my speed gains.

Spent over twenty minutes on the phone with Hydromotive and they told me EXACTLY what I could expect and why. They hit it dead center. Couldn't be happier. Had mine for about five years now and they are still mirror finish.

Mirage was about 65/66, with the Quad IV's got it up to 68/69. Now with dumping the silent thunder box and installing aluminum EMI Thunder manifolds and risers over the stock Merc lead anchor units (which eliminated over 500 lbs of dead weight right over the props) and installing Stainless Marine tips I'm now seeing, depending on conditions and load, 72/73 and once got it to 74, gps.

Don't know why but for some reason the last picture, taken at night, the color is off a bit, more green than what it really is.

those are some great increases for the $$ spent
I am hoping hte props do the trick

Maybe next year I can upgrade the exhaust.
You have the same issue I do, Twins
I could have all hte upgrades Iwant if it was a single.
But hten again it would be one big a$$ HP single for my cat

Agree, twins are more expensive but you've always got a "get home" motor/drive.....saved my azz three times now.

Finally got out today
Last friday the pass was at 76.8 with the previous bravo 1 28p props.
Blew a water hose so was unable to continue
Was out today with higher air temps and humidity
New props turned out to be GREAT so far.
Midrange cruise of 3,000rpm was 40, up from about 33-36
Top end got me to 83.2 in a short distance. Kept running into large cruiser wakes
The throttle was impressive to say the least. The entire range I could feel the props bitting
Before I would be at max speed bouncing off hte revs at just over half throttle.
Today I was at half throttle and the speeds was still climbing without raising to much more rpm
Handling did not seem to be any less different, but I will say the boat responded well to the Hydros lift and the trimming was positivly responsive
Will do more testing this week if weather permits.
