Exactly! :D Doesn't matter how fast it goes it just needs some access to shade and napping facilites! All my boat has is a hull, a motor/drive and a stereo! :D

Re: Do "family functions" get in the way of your boating????

What a good thread. So far I can say NO, but this is only my 2nd Boating season. I've only been on the water 6 or 7 times this season due to a freak accident (cut my leg on prop) which caused me to miss last 3 weekends!!! Doc finally gave me okay to go back in water last Sunday. Can't wait for the weekend!

I know I'm starting to get addicted to boating because I've never planned my weekends before and now every weekend I pencil in which family members or friends are coming out on the boat with us.

My brother is getting married next year @ Lake Anna. I suggested we rent a house for the whole week and I tow the boat up there so I wouldn't miss out on any water time.

Re: Do "family functions" get in the way of your boating????

Currently boatless, but those types of functions never got in the way of my boating. It was also probably one of the attributing factors to my divorce from my ex-wife.
Lo-and-behold, guess where I met my wife now. She docked her boat across from me at the marina. We kind of hung out with the same crowd of boaters. Always making runs to the same bars, restaurants, Beaches, etc... The whole group was made up of couples, and we were the two that were single. So, she'd usually just hop into my boat with me, instead of each of us running alone in seperate boats. Didn't take long for us to realize we were the same kind of people (plus, she's pretty hot :D ).
Her and I would boat 5-6 days a week. That's just what we did.
I listen now to guy's I work with that have 5-6 nights/days a week for little league and shmoccer, kid's dance classes, and then family functions. I couldn't imagine wasting my life like that.

A few quote's through this thread ring out:
"People don't realize how much we love our boats"
"We're selfish" ( I know in most peoples eyes, that is a bad thing - but it must be a boater mentality) How I spend my leisure time is very important to me.

My wife and I work very hard, as I'm sure everyone on this board does to afford a boat and the money to maintain and run it. (we'll be back on the water in 1-2 years MAX - went through a pretty tough few years, but making a quick recovery, once again, due to HARD WORK!).
I couldn't imagine wasting a weekend for these crap functions, as long as
a). The weather is nice
b.) The boat isn't broken (no-one has mentioned that yet).

We're actually going to blow-off the Co. picnic this weekend (probably not a good idea, considering our positions...
 to go watch the Champ boats race on the Ohio - not my favorite type of racing, but hell, it's boat racing).

Must just be a boaters mentality.

Our house rule is (Apirl 1 thru Oct 15), if we can't get there by boat, you won't see us.

PS My mother in-law did not appreciate this from put-in-bay on the day of my brother-in-laws's wedding shower!!!!!
