Does when you and DC go out and dry dock Camaros count?

There are two things in summer, boating and weather. If the weather is good you have to boat, otherwise you loose 1/12th of your weekends each time you miss, and the weather can change and be bad for a while, then you really wish you had boated instead of watching a movie and "cuddling" on the coach. I make no plans, this is how I was brought up, all we did was boat. I missed a few this year because i was dumb enough to think I could take a year off. People who have weddings in the summer do not boat.

yes, have a weekend long "function" this weekend

I can usually give up one maaaaybe two weekends per season but thats about it.

A few years back there were several family weddings that I didnt attend, when I was confronted about my lack of attendance, I told them straight up boating is more important.

I went to the lake july 4th instead of a family reunion. Hell I know all the people at the reunion, and met new ones at the lake

I will go to those things except for the main three days we are always at the lake, memorial, labor day and july 4th.

The wife, family and friends know or are told, that summer & warm weather = boating on the weekends, due to limited amount of time available to do such given weather conditions, so boating comes first & foremost every weekend, everything else comes secondary.

They ( family & friends ) may not like it sometimes, but thats just the way it is. If they ( wife & kids ) want to go to a function other than boating, I tell them have it, go ahead, but I"m going boating !

Mr P and I were married 15 yrs ago on 8/4 but it worked out great for our boating friends. Friday night started out with a big dock party at the marina where we used to keep our old Scarab. Saturday, the day of the wedding Ian and a bunch of his friends took all the male guests boating, we planned the wedding for 7 so the day could last longer. We had a friend's mother spend the night on our boat at Metro Beach so she could wake up at 6 before the park opened and secure the picnic area by the boats. I had several coolers packed with meat to barbeque in the trunk of the big white Lincoln we rented for the wedding. We delayed our honeymoon until December so not to interfer with the boating season. It took some planning by we still had the big traditional wedding, white dress, tux, 150 people etc, but we still got our boating in. For the last 14 anniversary weekends it seems like we are either in a poker run or boat rally this year will be no exception.

In some respects we are lucky since the family is small and most are out of town. Mr P and I are in complete agreement we say no to just about any request that would keep us from a boating weekend.

We just met someone this weekend that is selling his boat so he can spend more time coaching his sons baseball team , we could not relate to that at all

Can't Stand them!! My family knows better than to have functions in the summer, but the Wife's family (who have nothing better to do with thier lives) like to have "TRIPLE F's" (Fukin Family Functions) throughout the summer. She only makes me go to a few of them (thanks God), and she attends a few by herself. So alot of times it's just me on the boat with my buddies.

Actually have one this Sunday at 12:00 noon. I'll be 1 hr away at a party on the boat saturday night (staying overnight). That means that i'll have to leave around 8:00am with a hangover to get us home and to the party by 12:00. BLOWS!!!

If it's raining I might go.

I however rarely go to weddings (I have gone to 6 in my life including mine and 3 siblings).
I get sick at the money spent on a one day event for something that statistically will be over soon....They can waste their money but I can't afford to waste my time.
