Suggested Life Vests

After reading 19+ pages of posts regarding the SOTW tragedy, I feel compelled to further educate myself as a result of this incident. While I was surprised to review how distracted some of the messages on that thread became, I was more surprised to see that no one created a post to offer more 'factual' information about the safety equipment we should be using. What are the brands? Where can they be obtained? Is there a preferred type for comfort that does not compromise safety? What should we not be using?

I am certainly not looking or a long thread here, just actual suggestions on proper safety equipment at performance boat speeds. While I am only capable of running 70, I regularly participate in Poker Runs and after this tragedy, I am left feeling that I have been somewhat negligent in protecting myself and my passengers. Can the more knowledgable folks on this issue make suggestions with links/locations so that I can invest in the proper equipment and bring myself piece of mind? I have an overwhelming urge to get this done for myself and for any others that it may benefit.

Greatly appreciated....it is a pleasure to be a member of such a thoughtful and caring community.

My condolences to those families who lost their love ones....

lifeline lifejackets..... wardey on here posted he would sell them at his cost to OSO'ers to get more people to wear them.... your next step would to always wear your kill switch....

your next majore step would be a full face helmet.... a big step, depends mainly on the speeds you run, the first two should be mandatory

Just make sure you have "other" CG approved lifejackets. Last time I checked, Lifeline's are NOT CG approved

Lifelines and SRP seam to be the racers choice, and at those kinds of speeds thats what I would wear.

I have those also dont think they would stay on at speeds over 80mph but a real nice jacket for the price.
