Looking to purchase a new boat. Either a 24 Pantera or Baja Outlaw 25. What do you guys think of each boat ?

ScottB Unbelieveable!!!!! Truly awesome!!! Help me out guys give me some pros and cons. Here is some history.

First boat 86 Formula 206 LS with 350 Mag.
Second Boat, 79 Pantera 24 with 454 475 H.P. LS6 motor w/ 3 man bolster
Third boat, . 81 Excalibur 27 with 454, 420 H.P,
Current boat 92 Baja 24 Bandit with 502 Mag.

Want something with a deeeper performance hull. Thus the Pantera 24 or Outlaw 25.

Did you already have a 24 Pantera? How did that ride compared to your 27 Excalibur? I have a Baja 240 sport(for sale) and think the ride can be better for such a big 24 ft boat.

27 Excalibur had a better ride but also 3 extra feet.

Pantera will get you a higher resale than the Baja. Custom boat vs. production. I'd go Pantera if budget allows. If not the Baja will be a helluva lot of fun. Get on the water and have fun is the bottom line.

I wont say Bay...... however ...both boats, the 24 and 25 do not have lots of room inside. You should keep your options open. If I had three kids and a wife that went boating with me, I'd buy a Searay Sundancer.

You should just test drive both boats, and you will know what's right for you.

there is a real nice 1995 pantera 28' single for sale in the classifieds in the mid $ 40s that looks awesome.also a real clean looking 1999 pantera 24' sport with a 502 mpi in the $ 36,000 range.take a look see what you think.i have only been out on a pantera 28' with twins.boat blew me away out in 4-5 footers , awesome !!

Both are great...not "family" boats, though. Sonic Prowler may give you the best of both worlds. 26'...fast, great in the slop(for you) Big cabin(for the kids).

i don't think anyone can disagree[sure someone will] but the pantera is just a better built boat, not to mention the customer service and personal attention from the nunez family is very well known to oso folks who have delt with them. That said i'm puttin' around in a citation cc 230, but after spending 4 hours at the pantera shop i have vowed to buy one as soon as i am able!! :blaster:

I have two little rugrats and I can tell you from experience get the boat with the tallest Freeboard. In the pictures posted previously it looks like a good percentage of the driver and passenger are above the top of the Freeboard. Bad news for little guys. Granted Pantera is a wicked Offshore boat, there comes a time when one has to rationalize. Just for the heck of it I posted a pic of my wife driving our 29 Baja. Notice how tall the side is. Oh yeah, make sure you get the boat with the biggest cabin. Just my .02

I would get the Pantera. I have a 24 Superboat which is just like the Pantera. With equal power, the Pantera will blow away the 25 Outlaw in ANY water. I have two small kids (8 & 5) and the freeboard is no problem. The above pics, the lady is standing, I would consider the Pantera a sit down boat. I NEVER stand in my Superboat. If the cabin is most important to you, get the Baja. My kids rarely go in the cabin and when they do, they are happy. I never use my cabin except to store stuff.

It's a tough call. There is a really big size difference between those two boats. The 25OL is just BIGGER all the way around. Sounds to me like a 28 Pantera is in order. Best of luck.

They are completely different boats. My friend had a 24, it's a sports car where the Baja is a Sedan. Both are good but to compare them is silly. First figure the type of boating you want to do.

Hard core sport or sport-cruise....

I've got a 24 w/ 3kids (6.5, 5, 10mo).
If the pantera is a 3man bolster, the kids won't even see over the dash.
You need a place for them to sit. I've fabricated seatbelts so they cant get up under way. Family boat??? If your family goes on it, then its a family boat.

BTW, I only have a 55gal tank. not 70.
