Illinois River Boating

We are planning a day trip to Morris, IL to run the boat on the river. We are launching at William G Stratton State Park.

Has anyone done this trip and can offer any advice or tips on beaches , restaurants, marinas.

We will be between the Dresdan an Marsailes locks.
