They are a great motor. I will side with OldSchool though. They are an amazing race engine. Just not the top on the list for the pleasure even-though they are in a lot of boats. We have the 1075 Mercs now and they are great. They are making a lot of damage for that power range. And yes, there is no warranty. If you fire it up the first time and it craps, it's yours!!!

When does Merc suggest you go over the upper ends on the 1075? That has always been the age old problem with 1000+ motors set up to run 6200-6300...lifters/springs/rockers. Put the hydraulics in on a decent size cam in a 800-900 motor and run them at 5600-5800 for a while and they seem to self distruct. Seems to be the cost of playing the game I guess.

We just had the valve lash done since Cig put in the tranny's wrong. The pull the engines at 15 and do that and then they should be good till 150 for a freshing up according to Merc. They "say" the don't need a total overhaul till way after that. We are squeezing them to see what number they will give on the overhaul That SmarCraft system is smarter than most of us will ever be. Their guardian system kicks in whenver we have a dumass attack

yes!!!! they do have 90 days, and we had problems right out of the box. It wasn't Mercs problem. It turned out to be a Cig rigging problem, they did thought stand behind it and remidy the problem. It took some bending of Skips arms to get it worked out.
