Nothing but hitting the rev limiter in a non-stepped 42 Tiger.

If your cooler's empty it might be tragic however!

I've been on boats that have blown drives at 90, and I've been on a cat that lost a tranny at 130. Nothing much happened. No violent turn or anything nasty like that.

It just didn't go as fast.

Now locking up a drive could be a different story!

Formula 311, engine hit rev limiter, boat slowed down. nothing else. I suppose it might be worse if it locked the prop. Blew an engine on a scarab 3 that locked the prop and the boat made an immediate turn and threw everybody about. Thanks god that is a high freeboard boat.

Did the boat have hydraulic steering?

I blew a drive with a stepped hull 38 ZR at 85 mph, the only thing that happened was the rev went up hit the limiter and the boat dropped off plane, I was going through S-Turns down in Atlantic City when this happened.

this covers blowing a drive.........where it gets tricky and costly is if the drive explodes and takes out all kinds of stuff with it...........sinking the boat is possible...........as well as taking out the other side..on a triple instalition you might want to shoot yourself in the head............m.m.........

My engine popped off the rev limiter and you hear the sickening sound of metal grinding as you are coming off plane. And yes, my cooler was empty when It happened at the NYC poker run. I was fortunate that there were plenty of generous spectators rafted off with well stocked coolers that donated beer to us for our 3.5 hour idle back to the marina

As far as the boat goes.. we just came off plane when it went,, no ill handling at all
