Boating in the Delaware River
Any of you guys boat in the Delaware river? There is a few of us from New Jersey and we usually hang out at the National Park Island south of Philadelphia. Where are your cool hang outs and what kind of boat are you running?

I went by there last weekend. Ended up going to the marina next to the Lagoon for a "river jam" party. they had 15 bands come through during the day/night.
We usually run the boat more north. hang at the tullytown cove in the afternoon, then run somewhere for dinner down the city. Running a 35 Sonic..... |

Russ,
Where do you launch? I did Hargroves for 10 years and Gloucester City ramp last year but they aren't open this year and have only gone to Hargroves once this year. Usually hung out in the cove just south of the island in West Deptford(Riverwinds). Due to the oil spill last November I've been avoiding the place somewhat this year. Been launching at Burlington NJ or Delaware City De. Tenitve plans call for the Chesapeake Saturday , launching at Salem NJ or Del. City but very likely be out there this Sunday , keep an eye out  272 Formula |

Re: Boating in the Delaware River
I usually hang out up north at the Tullytown cove. Come up this way, a lot less oil in the water. Some good parties in the back.

Heading north up river-the first cove on the left hand side just past the turnpike bridge. There is a small marina in the cove. We usually are on the back side of the cove.

Back in the day my day and uncle's spent every weekend anchored in the cove. Hell most of the Boats in the state marine too. Go up on Friday after work and stay till late Sunday. |
Re: Boating in the Delaware River
When we go out on the river we put in at Hargrove's and boat north to Trenton Marine, Tullytown cove, but "the Hairy Canary" was sold three weeks ago. Now the 15' Boston Whaler is out on the river on a Sunday for a cruise, till the replacement for the Magnum is found.

Re: Boating in the Delaware River
bcoffield- Cool your boat runs great. What kind of speed are you running?
Mopower- The ramp charge is only $12.00 the hours are until 8:30pm. Low tide is a little tricky. But we pulled at dead low with a 25 footer a few days ago. Thanks for the info about Tullytown cove guys. I will be up to check it out. Russ |
Re: Boating in the Delaware River
I know they started to dredge the cove at the Chesapeake Inn, you may want to call first to see if the docks are still there. I was down about two weeks age and they were starting real soon and it was going to take 2-3 weeks to complete.

Re: Boating in the Delaware River
We also boat in the Delaware, I have a 33 Powerplay. Mostly go down to the CD Canal or the city. Hang out at Curtains in Nj not a bad place either.
We were at the Chesapeake Inn last week still dredging it! |

ahh the good ole days when you could have fun and not smell trash !! :drink: We should be up there all weekend. just finished putting air in my boat and bought a honda 2000 generator......so i'm gonna try it out. stop up if your bored. |
Re: Boating in the Delaware River
We planning on going out early both days this weekend. Headed to the sandbar about five miles north of cove. Maybe we swing into cove on way back, I'll see how the kids feel!
Have you every anchored in the cove about 2 mile north, on same side of river. I always see a few boats achored and if wind is right, no trash smell either. |
