Here's a picture of our 79 Mirage (Pete Smith's Wolverine). Pete owned the boat.

Lady L was very fast back then. Pete ran it all over the place and ran it hard. It won lots or races and championships. I don'r ever remeber any accidents or problems, but I didn't go to alot of the upnorth races back then.

Boy, does that bring back memories!

Wolverine was at the very top of the game for production boats for that era. The boat was always well prepared and the crew was tough in big water.

That Lady L reminds me of another Signature from New Jersey, Crazy Greek owned by John Bochis...does anyone know what happened to those guys?

They were another great crew and could party with the best of them, they had everyone in Key West saying "Opa" one year.

Top Ban,
John "Crazy Greek" is still around, saw him at the Point Pleasant race in 04'. John was surprised some of us knew who he was-and the boats he raced. John has a family member on this board from St Pete-can't remember the name??

Hi all, newbie here with a couple of odd Q's...

YEARS ago, the APBA did some races up in the Traverse City, MI area. We're talking close to 20 years ago now. I'm amazed that I can remember it at all, but I was in awe every year when the boats came to town for the races (I was just a kid). I remember Al Copelands huge 50 ft Popeye's boat, GK Systems, Seahawk, Jesse James and others. Is it possible that anyone has a list of teams that ran those years in the area (1986-1990)?

My other question is about the Popeye's boat...the one with the closed canope and the wing. What happened to this boat? Who built it? Is it still raced? I was obsesed with this boat as a kid, and would love any info about it.

Thanks!!

Ok,

You made start looking now in people's back yards!!!

While I was at work, they shifted me out of the area for the day and look what I found in Central NJ. Double D's

I think I may have built that cat too!

In case the owner browses this board, I want him to know I didn't climb over his fence to get this pic.
I drive a bucket truck and raised the boom to take it!
