Re: Project Bullet.

Tough call....definetly get a survey done. From the loosk of the hoses and the bolts on the supercharger ti doesnt look like they kept up with flushing or cleaning the engines with fresh water. :( 10hrs dont mean much if its been siting with salt water inside it the entire time....I would say if the hull is solid the price would depend on if the seller is willing to let you tear into the engine to see whats wrong. You may just find its something simple or in the worst case the engine is done from rust and needs a new one all together :(

Re: Project Bullet.

I'll take a stab.
Sounds like it needs quite a bit. No trailer, engine rebuild is questionable since one isn't running. Salt has eaten the motors up pretty good it looks like. The drives probably need to be rebuilt. Interior looks like it needs some work. All original dash panels and gauges. I'd say 20-25 grand?

Stormrider 07-27-2005 10:45 AM

Re: Project Bullet.

I do dig the colors.
Figure $8K/ engine for rebuild.
And another $2K for each drive.

So I'd guess your looking at 30-40K to get it up to par.
I'd try to see what a real nice one has gone for recently and subtract $35K from it. My numbers may be off, but this may be a good way to approach it.

Anyone know what craig223 got for his bullet?

Steve_H 07-27-2005 10:49 AM

Re: Project Bullet.

the numbers i came up with. let me know if im way off.

trailer = ~5000.00

new paint job including dash = ~10,000.00

new gauges = ~2000.00

new cockpit area/engine hatch vinyl = ~6000.00

correct props = 400.00 used

hydraulical stearing (needed with that much hp=~4000.00

misc. = 2000.00

cylinder head work "only" = ~2000.00

pull/paint/detail engines and bilge = ~4000.00

getting it to missouri = ~1000.00

rub rail = $200.00

total= $36,600.00 to get it reliable and pretty again

hopefully the transom and stringers are dry!!

A little over 70K

I don't know Steve, I would suggest that you call Kevin and see what he thinks. He probably can give you a better answer than anyone as he has done quite a few!! :drink: :D :drink: :D

Re: Project Bullet.

After seeing some of the numbers to work on it, and what craigs boat, which was done, I'd agree w/ TSG's numbers.

Jamie B. 07-27-2005 12:43 PM

I was going to say no more than 25G.

OldSchool 07-27-2005 12:46 PM

Re: Project Bullet.

25 G's ........and an azzload of time and additional $$$. The owner needs a whooping if those engines have 10 hours on them. They look trashed to me!

Steve_H 07-27-2005 12:58 PM

Re: Project Bullet.

hmmmmm, i was thinking 20k tops IF the hull is in good shape.

keep in mind, this one can be had for an asking price of 39k w/myco trailer and "appears" to be in good shape (havent seen it in person).

http://www.offshoreonly.com/esvon/page-5977.html

theres also Stans (cig1988) bullet that has already been redone. cant find the link but i think his price is around 45k???

Yea, those motors looked whooped !! maybe the one is not running because there are no belts on it ?

I'd look at the one in Cali. looks in decent shape from the pics....look at the dash, original but no signs of corrosion anywhere.....and you can use the boat while you upgrade it. Spend the Xtra 15 - 20k on that boat....you get the trailer and you save youself 600 hours of work.....or as Craig puts it....an AZZLOAD of time.

There is also a member in NY that has a nice bullet for sale in the 40 - 50k range. Cig1988 ??

Re: Project Bullet.

Steve that boat looks like it needs everything. I think 35k is a bit lite for the work it need. I would guess by the time you get it done (like in 2007) you'll have over 70k in it. It'll add up fast.

I know the boat out here is more than I thought but it's DONE! Let someone else waste the time and money doing a re-rig and go get a finnished boat. That one looks like nothing but a project. I'm just finnishing off my Fountain and it was three times the work and money that I thought it would be to re-rig and re-power.

Re: Project Bullet.

I like projects as much as the next guy, but I would not pay 20k for that one...

don't mean to sound harsh, but judging by the amount of corrosion in the bilge, that boat looks like it sank...

it's terrible to see how poeple let stuff go...

stan's boat is the best bang for the buck out there...

I'm with Sean... well said

Re: Project Bullet.

Yeah I agree. The best project boat would be one that doesn't look like anythings wrong. That boat looks like it needs to be gutted, plugged, painted, and re-rigged from scratch. It's a pretty big project and if you're paying someone to do it, an expensive one!

No Hyd steering...It will need Gimbles to...............
You are buying a hull.....Period ! {IF it is dry}
10-15 k....................

Yep!!! No doubt about that.

Re: Project Bullet.

I cant find where that boat would be worth 25k. The engine in the pictures is missing parts including the crank pulley so it would be fair to assume that someone has alrady looked at fixing it and gave up. The boat needs to be gutted and started from scratch. Take your budget and time estimate and double it.

BGIII 07-27-2005 02:46 PM

Re: Project Bullet.

I wouldn't want it for free if I was the one that had to write all the checks to fix it.

I agree with Old School. Call Kevin H. at Mid-West because he has done several of these. I have his numbers if you don't.

I talked to Kevin earlier today. He and I are pretty much on the same page as far as value.

Buying a project boat really appeals to me because it allows me to put it back together the way i want it and with a paint job i can call my own design. I know alot of you guys have been down this road and i really appreciate your advice!
