What Boat to buy?
 

This will be my first power boat. I have been looking at a few different ones. I would like to get opinions. I like the Donzi 26zx or 28zx,the Sonic 26 prowler,or Glasstream has a new boat 273 sport. Also I have considered a Baja 26 or 28. I would like to stay under $60k. If I get the Glasstream I can get it new otherwise the others will be used (2000-2004). I am looking for a boat that will be fast and has good quality. Thanks in advance.

i have an 02 25 baja outlaw. so far i love the boat. i think baja makes a good boat. the only bajas i like are the outlaws but thats just me. they made a 272 which is now the 275 but looks wise i dont like them. as far as the donzi goes. most 28zxs i see are twin small blocks. ive heard ggood things about them. tough to work on though. ive also heard good and bad things about the stepped hull. donzi is also i little more money then a baja. if you want a twin set up go with the donzi but if you dont then go with the baja.

I would have to say look at the Powerquest 280 Silencer. But hay that is just me :D

I owned a 2000 Donzi 28ZX GREAT boat respectable speed 72 mph and great in the rough stuff. Might need to look at a 1998 or 1999 to stay under 60,000.

The 26ZX is basically the same boat little less cabin single engine also a nice ride. I know a real nice one (2001) that is for sale and can be had for maybe 50,000, 52,000. Let me know if interested. Good Luck.

I have a friend with a MINT freshwater 01 280 PQ with 100 hours on it with a 500. Runs low 70's gps and very nicely equipped. I know 58k will own it on a custom Eagle trailer.

Pre owned NORDIC 25 or 28 is a good choice.............Good luck in your search.

Or you could get a clean 290 Powerquest, with twins, and save yourself about $20K ;)

Ok first off thanks for the replies. However I am not ready to purchase anything right now. I am doing research for now. Does anyone have any comments on the Glasstream 273 sport (check glasstream.com)? I think I have limited my choice down to the Donzi 26zx or 28zx,Sonic prowler or the Glasstream 273. I would like a boat that has quality first and speed second. Any more input or comments are appreciated. Thanks

Get a DONZI then, great boats. 26 or 28ZX you can not go wrong with either one. When you are ready to make a move let me know I can try and help you out with a 26 or 28ZX. Good luck

Expand your choices some. I would definately NIX the Donzis'. HORRIBLE customer service, I have some friends that spent some serious $$$$ on Donzi's and will NEVER make that mistake again. Plus the 26ZX is a wet riding boat. You want water in your face - get a 26ZX. I have had lots of seat time in a 26ZX. No comment on the 28ZX don't know much about them. Have a freind here w/ a Sonic prowler. Nice boat, but it always rides like the outdrive is trimmed WAY too far, when in reality it is trimmed down. Go ride one and see if they all have that trait.
Try to ride a PowerQuest 280 (Iused to own one - and it was one of my all time favorite boats) or a Sunsation 288. Both are good boats and a good values. I have heard the "Outlaw" series from Baja are decent boats too, but no experience with them.
