Buyers market? How bad is it for sellers?
I'm hoping to get a new (used) boat in the next month or so and am wondering roughly how much "play" is built into dealers prices? (I've always bought from individuals before)
A boat that is owned by a dealer, "free & clear", how much cushion do they buid into the prices? I know it's not a standard answer across the board, but what would you expect to see "discounted" on a 100-120k boat?
I'm not out to play games with anyone, don't want to waste their time, nor do I want to waste mine. I would be a cash buyer if it makes any difference in the equation.
Thanks in advance!
Andy

Andy,
I bought my Baja in August of last year. Got some great advice from people on the board. It was suggested to me to offer 25% less than m.s.r.p., which I did. Ended up at about 23%. The negotiation took about 10 minutes. No b.s. back and forth. I was happy and I'm sure they made $ too. Good luck.

33 Powerplay, 2000-2002, efi's
I'd do a 32' AT as well, but the market on those appears to be pretty dry right now.

Re: Buyers market? How bad is it for sellers?
Maybe I should clarify my original question:
If you were buying a Used boat, from a dealer, and the price was between 100-130k, where would your offer be at & where might you expect to close?
The boat(s) in question are Powerplays, so I would think that is a factor as well, since they are no more.
Thanks,
Andy
