Baby $109.95 Personal watercraft
Small $129.95 Offshore / Sport 18' to 30', cabin cruiser to 24' Large $159.95 Offshore / Sport to 40', cabin cruiser to 32' Ex-Large $229.95 House boats, cruisers longer than 32' I need to buy a new Box Anchor . I had a small one that worked extremely well with my 31' Bullet. I'm wondering if I should buy the large one or another small. Any experiences or input?? |
Re: What size Box Anchor??
Large one works great for me Craig

Re: What size Box Anchor??
Just tie all your MT beer cans together and throw them over. :drink:

Re: What size Box Anchor??
The Large one is extremely heavy. It holds in any conditions but a real pain to get in the boat after a long day on the water.

BajaBob...Have you used your boat this year?? |
Re: What size Box Anchor??
Go for the large Craig. Its what I have, and it has never let me down.
Fact is, we never end up holding 'just' our boat at a raft-up. I have held as many as 7 boats off my large box anchor. If you are interested: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...box+anchor+bag |
Re: What size Box Anchor??
I would go Large,,, The small holds my 288 o.k. but in sandy bottoms it's marginal...

Re: What size Box Anchor??
The large one holds my 38 Sonic with no problems but be careful when pulling it in. It will leave a nasty mark if you let it hit the side of your boat, shin or anything else.

Re: What size Box Anchor??
Thanks for the replies.
I guess that I should have titled the thread...What is the biggest boat that anyone has used the medium Box Anchor with? :D :D :drink: |
Re: What size Box Anchor??
i was thinking of downsizing... the large one holds SO WELL the medium should be fine and easier to move

Re: What size Box Anchor??
I traded up to the 30+ size and have found it too heavy and cumbersome to use over the smaller yet very effective 18-30 size. The smaller one was perfect for tossing off the stern for anchorages in areas where there's no strong current, or as a supplement to another anchor in a raftup. Light and easy to handle. The larger like I said is just too cumbersome and therefore i don't use since I have a good bow anchor locker setup. I'm gonna trade it back down in size.

Re: What size Box Anchor??
A buddy of mine has the small box anchor, he holds three or four of us tied up with no problems. I've been thinking about getting one myself, I have a huge fortress with 15' of chain and it's a real pain in the ass.......
Btw his boat is a 26 and he holds three or four 26 to 32 boats with no problem. should hold your TG by itself or maybe another boat or two easily. |
Re: What size Box Anchor??
That's what I was thinking. The one that I had held the Bullet just fine and there was always someone else tied up as well. I just wasn't sure how much larger the large was. I'm going to go with the small one.
:drink: :drink: Have a good weekend!! |
Re: What size Box Anchor??
I use the medium one for my 35 Cafe. It has worked ok in some pretty good wind and current. I didnt want to lug the bigger one around for no reason.

Re: What size Box Anchor??
i have a Sand Spike for the beach, when the tides comes and goes its great for realing the boat in and out, easy tie off of slack at the spike. anchor goes off the transom.

Re: What size Box Anchor??
It depends on how much you have drank, late night any size box will do, right stecz20. I wouls say about 5'8 130lbs, a nice 60 40 weight dist.

Re: What size Box Anchor??
The medium has worked fine for my 25, 30, and I tried it with my 36 Nor-Tech and it seemed to hold fine. I don't think I would want one any bigger because of the scratch potential.
