The same thing took place a few years ago up in Laconia, NH. Gas boy tried to wet vac the gas out of the cabin of a boat and it went up.

Several years ago my ex brotherin law tried the wet/dry vac on a fuel spill in the bilge of his boat.Explosion that blew him and his buddy into the water and burned his boat and dock to the water. I never did like him.Joe Murray

Re: Wrong Hole

He had to have seen the gas in the bildge from the overflowing water tank, how else would he notice the tanks filling up? Was he watching them, I don't think so. So instead of dumping water into he bilge to dilute it he was going to pump it overboard. People just don't get it, fuel in the bilge is a bomb waiting to happen, the fumes are thick and one tiny spark, even from the screwjack or static can set it off. What a shame, burns are the worst possible injury. Hope they all come out fine.

Your imagination would be correct.

Liquid gas doesn't blow up very well.

Fumes blow up very well.

But it has to be the right mix... (hence carbs) :D
