anyone ever do some prop dreging?
 

i plan on using a friends 115hp o/b powered runabout to open the mouth of our canal enough so i can get my 35ft cig in there. then use the cig to blow the rest of the sand/muck out. any tips?

was also wondering how hard i can run my motors on a large garden hose so im not sucking sand water into the motors during the dreging operation. i have 70lbs of water pressure at my house, so i would think i could turn 3500 or 4000 rpms using a large diameter hose to get some volume with the high pressure. any thoughts on the water issue? thx, ratman

no joke bro! the mouth of my canal has closed up a bit and i intend to use prop wash to move the soft sand/silt outa there. my father and i used his 18 ft 270hp donzi to erode the shore line 12 ft wide and 30 +ft long in about 4 - 5 hours it was 7ft deep. when we started it was 2 foot above sea level. my canal should be easy as the sea walls will help direct the prop was and the canal opens into the the bay. the are a lot of trees and davits and such to tie the boat to along the sides of the canal. i bought 600ft of 1" nylon rope to run 4 lines of the stern of my cig to trees etc. i am gonna tie off two the to big U bolts on the transom and the two rear cleats on the deck.

BTW, won't you just be moving the silt around piling it up at the end of the prop wash?

dont know anyone with a hi po jet boat, i used to have one it had 100ft + roost. i figure my cig oughta move a lotta silt. it is ok if it washes out in the bay its plenty deep beyond the mouth of my canal. i thought if i have to i'll buy a pair of large danforth snow plow anchors to tie off to and open up the mouth next if its needed.

Dont let any tree huggers catch you. The fine would be huge.

In galveston by my beach house a developer filled in a small pond, came to find out it was the only fresh water lake on the island. He had to rebuild the pond, pay and pay a multimillione dollar fine.

Im sure people on here can tell you horror stories about the sea grass in florida.
