Where are the good places in Chicago
 

I have never been there by boat. Any sugg on places to dock, eat, drink, and gas would be appreciated. Thanks

Chicago is a great City, it helps to know someone to get a dock in downtown since all the marinas are run but the city. There are no bars or places to tie up and get out to go in the city except for Dicks Last Resort which is inside the first lock on the river by navy pier and they charge a lot by the hour. Unfortunately Chicago is a great city with a beautiful lakefront but they don't make it easy to visit by boat.
A ton of offshore boats and a lot of them are OSO members dock at Hammond Marina,(IN) it has a great launch and good facilities. There is a Chicago Powerboat Club (we are members) and they have a forum here, there are a few threads about boating in Chicago in that forum so check them out. When do you plan on being there, there are a few fun runs set up by the club maybe you'd like to join in on one of the fun runs, they are a great group of people. Hope this helps
