Depends on how many people he wants to entertain. Keep in mind that going fast is only "entertaining" for the driver - you're not going to be running 45 mph with 10 people on the boat sipping cocktails.

I'd say a Formula SS would be in the right ballpark, or possibly a Sundancer or similar. More beam = much more useable space....

He probably should not get a boat... it will just end up another trashed up rig that someone doesn't take care of...

My parents have a Formula 33ss and love it - They can put 10-12 people on the boat with no problem. The cabin in their boat is small, but it is a great set up for entertaining people and it has good performance for a cruiser type of boat. The beam on the boat makes it a little harder to trailer, but it's not too bad.

400 SS Would be my choice, Cockpit is huge, cabin is very comfortable with all the amenities including a full sized fridge.

Take good care of it so that when he moves up to something bigger I can pick it up reasonable.

We had a long talk today about it. He likes the Sunseeker and the Formula. He wants to test them both out. He wants to drive a few boats to get a feel for things but does not like the idea of a captain. He wants to take classes to learn and he wants to have either myself or some one take him out on his boat tell he feels 100% comfortable with it. He does not have a huge enough ego to want to hurt himself or his family or others. Seems he is thinking in the 400-500K range as of now......
