It's my condo on Isle of Venice in Fort Lauderdale. unfortunately I won't be back until next wed or thursday. It is only 4 units and I am the Association and the manager, so there is no one to clean the place up. I am told there is about 20 feet of roof laying next to the building!

Re: Here Comes Katrina
Hey all, just got power back after 33 hrs.
House came through well, but I'm sure glad we shuttered the whole thing.
I left the center sliding glass door uncovered in back(east) for light and the dogs. I also wanted to be able to see any action. About 7pm the fence(8ft. PVC) came apart and started to shrapnel the house. I had to take the last shutter out in the height of the storm and bolt it into place. The rain didn't bother me, but almost taking fight on a 7'x18" piece of aluminum got my attention.
I also saw some jackazz pilot flying a GULFSTREAM 5($50 million) jet about 300 ft over my house at the same time haeded for Boca Raton airport. It took at least 3 IDIOTS to think that was a good idea. The owner, the pilot, and the airport guy that said "weathers fine, i don't think the heavy stuff is gonna come down for awhile".
Glad to be safe, but they are lining up like freight trains in the gulf again.

Re: Here Comes Katrina
Thanks again. I think it is just the patch of tar they put on it last year in july, (it was guaranteed for exactly one year too!)
I think the roof trusses and the original roofing material is still in place. That's what insurance is for I guess.
I wonder if Steve's house made it through OK? he is about a block from the ocean.
