Damaged homes in HAVASU from Microburst
We had a Mircroburst that was 70mph running through the town and did alot of damage. Some roofs were ripped right of the houses!! Some people lost their RV garages....totally destroyed. My house is fine....the next street over was damaged pretty bad :(
If you have a home out there you might want to check it out asap http://www.havasunews.com/articles/2...ews/news02.txt |
Re: Damaged homes in HAVASU from Microburst
70 isn't bad, but I was in a microbust that was clocked at 106. Sounded just like a freight train. I thought we were going to die from a Tornado. Just that quickly it was gone.
Several years ago there was a nasty storm that went north of me. They had trees that were totally stripped and bill board signs that were tipped over. We didn't have that kind of damage from the little microbust I was in. |

Microburst. What the helllll?
Will ins. cover natural disasters like that. I think people in Laguna Beach are having a hard time getting any money after the land slide. |
Re: Damaged homes in HAVASU from Microburst
Never heard of a microburst...is it like a tornado? I've heard and seen a micro bust before...that's why they make breast enhancement surgery :D

Re: Damaged homes in HAVASU from Microburst
A microburst occurs after a column of fast rising hot air cools in the higher altitudes then falls rapidly. When it hits the ground high winds shoot out 360 degrees. Kind of like a heavy air bomb basically.

Re: Damaged homes in HAVASU from Microburst
Are microbursts common in the AZ area as I've never heard of one up here in Wisconsin? Sounds like maybe a smaller version of a tornado that still packs quite a punch?

Re: Damaged homes in HAVASU from Microburst
Often people blame microbusts for being a tornado. The difference is in the debris. A micro burst will have the debris in a nice line. A tornado throws things every where. I imagine microbursts are not very common out west, the are quite common in Wisconsin though. I imagine the midwest would have it the worst though.
