Insurance Claim?
I feel stupid for asking you guys however, my wife saw my post on my recent mechanical failure (not sure if drive or engine however, I suspect drive) and asked "can't we claim this on our insurance?" It seems like the answer is obvious however, I couldn't say no with any confidence. Any ideas?
Background - was running innocently and BAM! Loud noise and she shut down. We didn't hit anything...all I know for now

Re: Insurance Claim?
don't do it.i did it 3 years ago on my 25 outlaw and last year when i bought the A/T they said they couldn't insure me.i ask why when they insured friends boats with more hp and after i fought with the manager at the corp. office she told me a couple of speeding tickets on land and the claim on my outlaw that they wouldn't be able to get their $ back in 10 years if i was to turn in another claim.isn't it my $ and why do we need ins. if you can't use it.

Re: Insurance Claim?
I hate to disagree with you guys so far but I did hit something and I did make a claim on my insurance and absolutely nothing has happened to my insurance rate since and it's been 2 years since that claim. I have Allstate and I was told that boat insurance is different than car insurance as a claim does not affect your premium. Let's see here....$500 deductible versus a $5000 drive...I'll make the claim. Not trying to scam anyone but if it doesn't affect your rates...why do we have insurance???

Not the case with Progressive, However if you have had the policy for 4 or more years they may not increase the premium after 1 claim I believe

Re: Insurance Claim?
I wouldl tend to agree with what most everyone above has said, I would be afraid that they would increase the premium. By the way, I have a 28 heat as well.

regardless of wether or not they will riase your rates or drop you all togther, if you didn't hit something they aint gonna cover it anyway. insurance doesn't cover mechanical failure.
