Cleaning Fresh Water Tank
Does anybody have the instructions for cleaning out fresh water tanks in boats? I can remember seeing an article in a magazine a long time ago. I have searched the net and found nothing.
My water tank has some nasty smelling water in it and there is supposed to be a way to flush and sanitize it. Help?

Shock it with about a cup of bleach per 10 gallons and run that through all the lines till empty. Then run about 50 gallons of fresh water through. After that if you have city water (chlorinated) just use that. If not use a capful of bleach for every 20 gallons of water put in the tank to keep fresh. We never drink it even when it's kept clean, always bottled water.

I was going to say the same thing as Insptech. We did this on our cruisers for years. (you can buy an additive for the tank at marine supply stores, but the bleach is just as good or better, and cheaper too)
